Florida Execution Set For 1986 Murder

September 11, 2013

Gov. Rick Scott on Tuesday signed a death warrant to execute convicted murderer William Frederick Happ on Oct. 15 at Florida State Prison near Starke. Happ, 51, was convicted in the May 24, 1986, murder of Angela Crowley in Crystal River.

Crowley, 21, was abducted while making a call from pay phone in a parking lot and taken by Happ to the Cross Florida Barge Canal, where she was beaten, sexually battered and strangled to death with her own clothes. By the time he was arrested for the murder, Happ had begun serving a prison sentence in California for an unrelated armed robbery and kidnapping.

The execution would be the second in October at Florida State Prison. Marshall Lee Gore, who has been convicted of killing two women in 1988 in Miami-Dade and Columbia counties, is set to die Oct. 1.

I can say that this man is guilty, I was at the trial saw the evidence heard the appeals and hearings. This man refused a DNA test even when recommended by his lawyers, reason it would not be a good idea!!! Fingerprints on window, hatch and under the door latch. He had injuries consistent with the hand injury to his hand.

He was also a suspect in a murder in Orange County CA. This man has never attempted to deny killing her, all his appeals have been based on procedures or procedural error. He is guilty. I plan on being there to see it.

    shane,
apples and oranges. you can probably find any circumstance at all (e.g. war, abortion, civil rights, etc) and find a similarity to compare. in the end, they have nothing to do with each other. this is pathetic and petty.

    Shane,
I did read the article, obviously YOU DID NOT! It clearly states that the VICTIM Ms. Crowley was at a pay phone when this man abducted, kidnapped, beat, sexually assaulted and strangled her with her own clothes.
This is totally different from the Trayvon Martin case. If you are going to start throwing out cases PLEASE make sure the one that you are comparing it to has the same type of circumstances!
This man ( and I use that term very loosely) is an ANIMAL! HE had NO right to do ANYTHING to this YOUNG INNOCENT lady. He is the one that played God, if you will, HE decided when and how this young lady would die.
The ONLY thing that is upsetting about this , other than the lady losing her life at a very tender age, is that we, as tax payers have been taking care of this SORRY WORTHLESS, person,( he does not , in my opinion, deserve to be called a human being) for 27 years, that means he has spent more years( 6 to be exact) in jail than Ms Crowley was ALLOWED BY HIM to spend on this earth. That in itself is an injustice.
What is shameful in this matter is that Ms Crowley DID NOT have a chance to stand HER ground.

May Ms Crowley’s family find peace and closure in this long overdue execution.

    Leigh

You know, if a rapist killer is not caught after the first murder, it seems that they continue raping and murdering, I wonder how many unaccounted for victims there are.

    CONCERNING:
“Twenty Seven Years. I doubt that by now he recalls much of the details.Unbelievable!”

Difference of opinion. I imagine he enjoys remembering it daily along with the other crimes for which he was not caught.

    David for better people

I think that every convicted murderer should get the death penalty and that the method of their execution should match or be similar to the way they killed their victims. Also the number of years allowed for appeals should be reduced. I’ve said this before, but it’s worth repeating. It needs to be done. Put the fear of the execution back in the minds of the criminal and they will think twice about it. They don’t fear the death penalty today because it takes 20+ years and it’s done with a little needle injection.

Yeah it only takes over 20 years to carry out the sentences! What a joke our justice system is!

This man had years to think about his grisley murder. He should face an equal or greater end himself.
