Escambia Commission Schedules Extra Meetings In September
September 3, 2013
The Escambia County Board of County Commissioners has scheduled additional meetings in the month of September. Below is a complete listing of the Board’s upcoming meetings:
- Thursday, September 5, Agenda Review, 9 a.m.
- Thursday, September 5, Public Forum and BCC Regular Board Meeting, 4:30 p.m.
- Tuesday, September 10, Budget Hearing 1, 5 p.m.
- Thursday, September 12, Committee of the Whole Workshop, 9 a.m.
- Monday, September 16, Agenda Review, 9 a.m.
- Monday, September 16, Public Forum and BCC Regular Board Meeting, 4:30 p.m.
- Tuesday, September 24, Budget Hearing 2, 5 p.m.
All meetings will be held in the Board Chambers, 221 Palafox Place.

I bet you will not hear publicly how much it is going to cost tax payers for the jail transfer when it is 100% completed. Just found out that the starting pay for Certified Correction Officers with the BOCC at the Road Camp is 20 cents more an hour than a 10 year veteran at the ECSO makes per hour. What an insult to those ECSO who have to now work under the BOCC starting October 1st. Even though I heard they were getting a 2% increase starting Oct 1st, that will only bring them up close to equal pay. Our BOCC is a joke. No wonder good officers are quitting and some even moving out of town. Public safety has taken a serous back seat with the BOCC. Public library, ECAT, and Perdido were more important according to Gene.
