Davis Highway At I-10 Roadwork Set To Begin
September 14, 2013
The Florida Department of Transportation has awarded a $144,412 contract to Panhandle Grading & Paving, Inc. to make improvements on Davis Highway at the westbound I-10 on ramp in Pensacola.
Improvements will include construction of an additional free flow southbound lane onto the westbound I-10 on ramp from Davis Highway. Also, the outside southbound through lane on Davis Highway will be converted to a free flow lane. Crews will begin preparing for construction activities beginning Monday. Motorists can expect intermittent lane restrictions. However, work requiring lane closures will take place between 8:30 p.m. and 6 a.m.
Construction activities are weather dependent and may be delayed or re-scheduled in the event of inclement weather. Motorists are reminded by FDOT to travel with care through the work zone and to watch for construction equipment and workers entering and exiting the roadway.

You can’t work on all roads at one time.
Not enough money and you need SOME roads you can actually use, can’t shut down everything.
David for reality
It hasn’t been long since they hauled all the orange barrels away on Davis Hwy. Now they bring em back. Whomever plans these fiasco’s needs to be fired. Why not do all the work at one time rather than taking this piecemeal approach. The citizens lose, the barrel rental company hit’s the jackpot again.
I feel so bad for the businesses along Davis ,so many closed down after the years of construction last time.I also agree with the above comment the on ramp at 29 and I-10 is the most dangerous on ramp around. The merge lane should be lengthened at least down past the palafox overpass if not longer.
I wish they would bulldoze and completely redo the suicide ramp from 29 South to 10 East. No one knows how to properly merge to begin with, much worse when you have to merge into the fast lane.
