Neiko Robinson No Longer With Penn State Football Team

August 28, 2013

Northview High School grad Neiko Robinson is no longer with the Penn State football team, the Nittany Lions announced Tuesday.

“Neiko is not here.  Basically, what I’m going to tell you on that is what happened there is between Neiko and myself,” head coach Bill O’Brien said during his first weekly press conference of the season. “Neiko is a fantastic kid.  It had nothing to do with discipline, nothing.  This kid is a fantastic kid.  It just didn’t work out here at Penn State.”

The true freshman’s arrival at Penn State was delayed in June due to “confusion” with his Northview High School transcript, forcing him to stay back home and finish a class, according to a pennlive.com report. O’Brien said at the time that the situation was related to “all the clearinghouse and NCAA deals”. O’Brien gave no indication Tuesday that the transcript error led to Robinson’s departure from the team.

O’Brien had nothing but praise for defensive back Robinson during Penn State’s media days.

“He’s athletic. He’s got to put some weight on. He’s got a long way to go to be able to play for us, but we’re sure glad that he made it here,” O’Brien said August 8 about Robinson. “We’re happy to have him. Good, bright eyed kid.”

Penn State opens their season Saturday at 3:30 ET against Syracuse in a game scheduled to be televised on ABC/ESPN2.

    Delayed but not Denied!
God has our best interested at heart and his ways are not our ways and his plan for our life is not always our plan. So what the enemy mean for our bad, God can turn it around for our Good to get us on the plan designed for our life.
So I say to Neiko, Forget those things which are behind you and press towards the mark of the high calling. Remember you are a designer original, perfectly made by God, unlike other designers you are signified by the blood of jesus, created with purpose and Designed for Greatness.
Seek God and let him lead you to your Greater
    Delayed but not Denied!

After the abuses, cover-ups, and flagrant disregard for victims, for years to come, my feelings about that disgraced university’s sports department & administrators will be summed up with this catchy little rhyme:

“It’s great to hate Penn State!”

    If it’s the guidance C.’s fault…

Chalk up another “oversight” on that profession…happens a lot with kids…that department in all schools need a “reboot” on how check and double check for any issues or shortcomings…

Why didn’t the Guidance Counselors catch this missing class before he graduated? And how could he have received his diploma without all the classes needed? Someone messed up and now this young man has to pay for it. I hope this doesn’t end up where he gets discouraged and doesn’t go on to college.

I bet he could walk on to South Alabama and make the team and they would give him a scholarship because of his talent level. He would stay close to home too.
