Five Charged With Attacking 77-Year Old Man

Four juveniles and a 19-year old have been charged with attacking a 77-year old man Monday night and chasing him into Navy Boulevard.
The incident happened just after 9 p.m. near 400 North Navy Boulevard. The Escambia County Sheriff’s Office received several reports of teenagers chasing a man with a stick. Deputies arrived to observe several teens fleeing the scene.
According to witnesses, the juveniles approached the victim and chased the 77-year old into Navy Boulevard, hitting him several times with the stick and causing minor injuries. The victim declined medical treatment.
Arrested were Shaknee Golay, 19; Alicia Wilson, 15; Keyon Black, 16; Javontae Wilson, 13; and Demtirus Wilson, 12. Each was charged with aggravated assault on a person over 65 years of age. Black, Javontae Wilson and Demtirus Wilson were also charged with aggravated battery on a person over 65 years of age.

I bet if we started punishing the parents as well as the children I think things would start changing with these lil thug wannabes.
Well they’ve just begun a life long career in the justice system.Once in you can’t ever get out.attacking an old man is in the same category as abusing a defenseless child .Of course the parents don’t raise their kids to care about whitey so they attack the easiest targets.Shame on these brats.
Where is the OUTRAGE from the NAACP and other local minority community organizations concerning this horrible crime??? Where are the Newspaper Headlines and Media coverage interviews concerning this awful attack on a 77 year old man??? that’s right they’re too busy maligning SHERIFF MORGAN AND THE ESCAMBIA COUNTY SHERIFF DEPT.

The root cause of all of this is lack of parenting skills.. I will always believe this to be true.. When you have a child, it is YOUR RESPONSIBILITY to raise and nurture that child and make sure they grow up to be responsible citizens.. I fear that people are losing these skills at an alarming rate.. We, as society, think that we are paying a dear price now for this lawless trend, but I fear it will get much worse if this trend is not reversed..
We all know the only punishment they will receive is light probation,and walk out of court laughing about what they did………
Good grief. You can’t make this stuff up. Shaknee in relationship with mother of the twins. So, she took her “step sons” out for a night of “wilding”? Remember that from years ago. Groups of single digit IQ street thugs would band together and assault people. By definition “a slang term that refers to the practice of marauding in bands to terroize strangers and to swagger and bully.” Well, they got their swagger and bully thing going. Now, how about a little justice? Since first opportunity was missed by the victim in that he wasn’t carrying a weapon, it falls to the judicial system to make a clear, firm statement. Local “community leaders” will lose all credibility if they do not become vocal about what these animals have done to ruin the reputation of their community and the serious efforts made by those who are trying to instill values in……….on second though, I’m with Robert’s earlier sasquatch/ unicorn/ bicycle analogy. They will not own the cancerous problem the actions of these five represent. If anything, they’ll blame society, the “man”, someone who may have dissed them earlier in the evening, or, worse still, have no rhyme or reason for what they did. Which means, they totally reverted to acting like a pack of animals.
Something no one has commented on: Look at the ages of these kids. Unless they have been completely thrown out of public schools, these kids are in the same classes as well-mannered and behaved kids, and there is NOTHING that a super-star teacher can do to “overcome” the way these kids have been raised.

What are the county commissioners doing to address the violence in our city? Why do they neglect to comment on horrific events like this one? Maybe they are too busy limiting the officers who have to work with the dirt-bag criminals and their offspring on the daily? Then go home to the nicer sections of town AKA fantasyland. It is only a matter of time before the slick of dilapidating sludge reaches their doorstep.
You will not hear a peep out of the black community leaders on this issue unless the victim was white and they can spin the story and blame the old man for provoking sweet innocent children. Children are our future! Not much to look forward to – is there?

Agree the parents should at the least be charged with child neglection. Kind of wish the victim did have a weapon, we the tax paying citizens will be caring for these delinquents for years to come if not already.
This story has convinced my husband and I that we need to start carrying our concealed weapons that we qualified with. If attacked, protecting ourselves is our right. At the age of 64, I can’t outrun them, but I bet I can put them on the run.
So what was the reason for the beating? Theft? Was it racial?
The worst case would be they though it was “fun”. If that was it they should be committed to a mental institution because only the criminally insane think beating someone up is “fun”.
Parents in part of our society took “it takes a village to raise children” to be what they think was “its the village that is responsible for raising my kids”. So they don’t think it is in any way their responsibility to teach right and wrong or good or bad behavior. Leave it up to the school and others.
The old man should have never had to run from this group of young thugs. They should have run upon sight of his CCW being removed from the holster. An armed society is a politer and safer society.

I would wish you were right, but sometimes I wonder.
I fully expect the parents or some of their friends to come on and explain how wonderful they all are and how it was all the prey’s fault.

This is a sad commentary on where our local society is headed. Women give birth then expect others to clothe, feed, care for and teach their young , with the least
possible effort ( if any at all) on their part. No positive home life, no discipline, no supervision (except possibly a TV ) and no one to set good and right examples for them. Consequently , young children and teens become violent and aggressive with absolutely no sense of compassion or motivation in their lives to improve themselves. It is spreading everywhere in Escambia County. I have seen it coming for many ,many years in my position with the local school district. This is something that has been building for three generations. Look for it soon in your own neighborhood……
None look as if they have any remorse for their actions, therefore the punishment should be severe, especially for thecontemptful looking 19 and 16 year olds…

If you look at the last names it looks like three are probably siblings.Mom and Dad should be so proud as to how they are raising them! Parents need to be held responsible for their children’s actions! We didn’t tell them to have these children they obviously can’t control and take care of!

Hopefully the same leaders that were so concerned about the Deputies doing their job will also be devastated by this and will rally to educate the parents etc.

That there is the reason we have the 2nd Amendment. Self preservation is a basic right. If the 77 year old man would have been armed this would have been a different story. Happy he is okay and the criminals were caught.
So sad, where the hell were their parents? That is the problem with these young kids, the parents dont and wont take responsibility for their children these days.
