Driver Flees Hwy 97 Crash

August 25, 2013

A driver fled a Highway 97 crash Saturday night in Walnut Hill.

A resident just south of the Highway 97 and Arthur Brown Road intersection reported hearing the crash about 10:40 p.m.  The vehicle and driver were gone as first responders arrived on scene a few minutes later.

The driver was apparently northbound on Highway 97, failed to negotiate a curve and struck a speed limit sign post. After hitting the post, the vehicle cross both lanes of Highway 97, destroyed a telephone company pedestal box, traveled though a cotton field and came to rest in the area of a building that was previously torn down. The driver then fled in the vehicle northbound on Highway 97 toward Ernest Ward Middle School.

    @ Jay and others,

When our Frontier was down for a significant amount of time, my husband called until he got to someone who could adjust our bill accordingly. It was fixed pretty quickly after that. If all of you will call Frontier and insist on a bill adjustment, you’ll get the attention that a customer deserves. Don’t stop till you’ve reached the top. If Frontier gets the message they can’t treat us like this, it’ll improve. Until then, they’ll keep putting us on the back burner because we don’t have many other options at the moment. Call, call, call!!

William, the phones and internet are back up now.
I spoke to Frontier last night after the accident and then again this AM telling them the site of the accident and they told that they DID NOT WORK on Sundays and that it would be Monday before anyone would be able to work on it. I also explained that 911 was out and they said too bad!

When I called my phone and internet in at about 9 am, the person I spoke to I had a hard time understanding. The English was very bad. I did get told for phone it would be 34 to 48 hrs. until it was fixed. Then when I got transferred to guy with internet, he told me it would be 24hrs. to fix. I know we live in the woods, but we do pay for the service. At about 1 pm a friend called to tell me it was fixed. Thank you William for the up date.
