Two Jay Residents Seriously Injured In Early Morning Crash

July 6, 2013

Two Jay residents were seriously injured in a single vehicle crash early Saturday morning.

Westly Lynn Mote, 26, was northbound on Chumuckla Highway near 10 Mile Road about 12:30 a.m. when she drifted off the road onto the east shoulder, over corrected, crossed both lanes of the highway, ran off the west shoulder, and hit a tree, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

Mote was critically injured and was transported to Sacred Heart Hospital in Pensacola. A passenger in the 1998 Chevrolet S10, 26-year old Natalie Raye Mote, was seriously injured and also transported to Sacred Heart. Neither occupant was wearing a seat belt, the FHP said.

Charges against driver Westly Mote are pending, according to FHP.

Thank you Kim for the update on Natalie! I was just going by what I seen last night when my son had to stop. Hope to hear Wesley is hanging in there. I’ll make sure I put the family and friends on the prayer list at church in the morning.

    @ Colton..

I also hope everyone pulls through with no lasting injuries. There were no “chargers” involved, but if the FHP finds there was negligence, ie, alcohol involved, their “pending” charges will public record. If your friend had hit your granny, instead of a tree, the matter would be not “ridiculous.”

    Life is not fair!

Jimmy Smith III…..the injuries are sever to say the least. It is not good! I don’t think it would be appropriate to say over the internet. Please just keep them in your prayers. Wesley is extremely critical and Natalie is critical as well. Both of them sustained many serious injuries. It is going to take many, many months of recovery for them both in my opinion. The family and friends really need the support. Despite the circumstances behind the accident and the investigation that is pending….I sincerely pray it’s a wake up call for all involved.

Praying for Wesley Natalie and their son. Hope mote pulls through.
“Chargers against driver are pending” that’s ridiculous.

This single truck accident was nasty, period. My son, who is VFD, and I were coming back from Milton on Williard Norris Rd when he received the call. He was one of the first ones on the scene with the ambulance right behind us.

I immediately started praying for the couple not knowing anything other than their lives were extremely critical. I will leave the investigation information to the FHP that was gathered at the scene. Father I ask please help this be their wake up call and allow them to have a speedy recovery. Guide the hands of the doctor’s involved in their care. My thoughts and prayers to the family and friends.
