Sanitation Truck, Dump Truck Collide; Shut Down Highway
July 3, 2013
There were no injuries in a wreck involving a dump truck and a sanitation truck Tuesday morning in Molino.
The ECUA sanitation truck driven by 52-year old Jeffrey B. Mathis of Pensacola was stopped on southbound Highway 95A to pick up trash and then moved forward to make a left turn onto Kemala Avenue, according to the Florida Highway Patrol. The rear corner of the sanitation truck was hit by a southbound dump truck driven by 53-year old Sammy E. Fuller of Molino, causing the dump truck to overturn.
Mathis and his passenger, 56-year old Jose L. Morales of Pensacola, and Fuller were not injured. Fuller was cited for careless driving, according to the FHP.
The dump truck’s load of dirt was spilled as it overturned, shutting down Highway 95A for a few hours.

Here’s my question, why isn’t the DOT, FHP or ECSO hanging out on 95a and handling this problem? Do they have to meet quota’s for tickets? Here’s the perfect way to do that!
Also a lot of these logging trucks and supply trucks use 95A to escape DOT , and they are doing it, Ive folloed many loggers to the plant
This accident isnt one bit surprising, the way these cement trucks, dirt trucks etc. fly down and up 95 these trucks, including county trucks do not obey the speed limits in Molino…..Our street is a 35 mile hr street do you think they drive that ? heck no, they just barrel on through like the built it.
REGARDING:
“FYI. SARCASM, like, they need to paint them school buses bright yellow and put a bunch of flashing lights on them too. I can’t believe anyone would be so oblivious to their surrounding to run into a giant green garbage truck.”
Don’t worry BPD. The rest of us knew you were joking.
AND
“How do people expect homes to be built if you can not haul products to the job site? This truck was headed down Quintette .Do you have a better route? DOT is giving all trucks a hard time but you need to let these trucks haul the building materials that’s needed for homes or road repairs.”
If someone can’t drive in a safe manner, get off the road and let the others who CAN drive without hitting nonmoving objects do the driving. Yes, we know it was not intended but the idea that the need for materials to be moved from one place to another justifies running into immobile objects just boggles the mind.
Best to admit an error of judgment and try to be more careful next time.

and care

Ditto Jane’s observations about speeding commercial trucks on 95A! They are constantly creating near-misses. Just come park in one of the school or church parking lots on 95A and bring a video camera. Please. The logging trucks are bad enough, especially the ones coming from Quintette Rd. Combine that with other heavy commercial vehicles doing the same or worse, and it gets dicey real quick.
just an fyi…ecua trucks do have big reflectors and flashing lights on the back of the trucks
Folks, you know that Hwy. 95A is a PUBLIC highway, yes trucks drive on it all the time, THEY SHOULD JUST SLOW DOWN!!. I’ve seen cars & pick-up trucks driving fast on this same highway, don’t hear anyone complaining about them. Aren’t they suppose to abide by the law Also. The speed is 45MPH, I think this includes EVERY MOTORIZED VEHICLE!! My comment for what it’s worth.
There are a lot of trucks using 95A. Many are speeding way over the speed limit. I have almost been rear-ended when I was turning onto my road off 95A several times. i have seen several “almost accidents” involving these trucks. They need to slow down! My question is this: since there is a sign saying “no trucks” at 95A/29 why are there trucks on 95A? Logging trucks, dump trucks, concrete trucks, etc.?
How do people expect homes to be built if you can not haul products to the job site? This truck was headed down Quintette .Do you have a better route? DOT is giving all trucks a hard time but you need to let these trucks haul the buildingmaterails thats needed for homes or road repairs.
Just a matter of time. Dump trucks, logging trucks always speed on that road. Can’t walk or ride a bike and it’s scary when people ride horses on the shoulder. 95A is a way to avoid DOT for most truckers.
They really should put some big reflectors and flashing lights on them garbage trucks, so people can see them.
No oversight,
It was the county road dept. waiting to clean up and get the road back open.
That’s one solid waste truck!
ECUA sanatation truck 1, dump truck 0. Just glad every one is okay. Remember, no reason to cry over spilled dirt…..
i grew up on kemala ave ..thank god no one was hurt …normally you have people walking,, kids riding bikes ,,,,crazy
>>Was it a public works Escambia County dump truck or a private company’s?
It was not an Escambia County or other public entity’s dump truck.
Was it a public works Escambia County dump truck or a private company’s?

That’s what you call a bad day !!!
