Billy was one of six boys born to Rufus and Mattie Lou Allen. God called him home suddenly on Wednesday, June 11, 2013. He graduated from Tate High School in 1964, attended Pensacola Jr. College until he joined the United States Air Force. He remained in the Air Force for six years and worked as a Radar Specialist until an auto accident forced him to medically retire. Billy was a lifelong member of Highland Baptist Church. His hobby was helping everyone in the neighborhood. He liked going for long walks and sleeping in a nice shade.
He was preceded in death by both his father and his mother.
He leaves behind his brothers, Shirley Ray (Freda) of Timpson, TX, Douglas (Joan), Donald, David (Teresa) of Pine Barren, FL and Glenn (Mickey) of Molino, FL. More nieces and nephews than you can count and many many friends who will miss him dearly. Although our family chain is broken and nothing seems the same; but as God calls us one by one, the chain will link again.
A military honors memorial service will be held for Billy on Saturday, June 15, 2013, at 2 p.m. at Faith Chapel Funeral Home North with Pastor Pamela Avery officiating. In lieu of flowers, a donation in Billy’s name to Highland Baptist Church would be greatly appreciated.
