84-Year Old Woman Claims Powerball Millions

June 6, 2013

An 84-year-old Zephyrhills woman on Wednesday claimed last month’s $590.5 million Powerball jackpot. Gloria C. Mackenzie, who arrived at the Florida Lottery’s Tallahassee office earlier in the day with her son Scott Mackenzie, a trusted family friend and legal and financial advisors, opted for the one-time lump sum payout of $370 million. The payout total is prior to taxes. The ticket was purchased at a Zephyrhills Publix. Photo by Tom Urban for NorthEscambia.com, click to enlarge.

I sure hope she is grateful and remembers the young lady that let her go ahead of her in line because if that Mom had not been kind to the old lady and let her go ahead that ticket would of been hers, but because of her kindness the older lady won now let’s watch and see how the older lady handles this. Hope she repays the Mom’s kindness.

Hey, Hey, careful what you say about my next wife.
Now if I can only get my magic marker to write Zephyrhills on this piece of old beat up cardboard. Had to flip it over from the “Help Me, Traveling, Stranded, Will Work for Money” side. A ride would be appreciated.

I bet her son is happier than she is, he just can’t show it. ;)

None of them look happy . I would be smiling ear to ear. Can you imagine the potential of good things to do for others and herself wow probably a little overwhelming

I beleive in Florida you cannot remain anonymous, unfortunately. Wish you could. It sure would be less of a headache and less vultures coming after someone.

    Congrats Ms. Mackenzie.

Tom, please tell me you’re joking about the death panel thing. Don’t be a stooge.

My question: Would it have been possible for her to remain anonymous, if that was her wish? Or did she have to come public like this?

Major part of this to go for charity. This is my expectation.

Good for her. I hope it makes her life much better; and much longer. We all know that U.S doctors death panel the poor elderly. So maybe this will help.
