Walnut Hill Man Charged With Burglary

May 21, 2013

A Walnut Hill man is facing multiple felony charges after burglarizing an Enon residence twice.

William Arbon Gilly, age  20 of South Pineville Road was charged with armed burglary of a dwelling, unarmed burglary of unoccupied structure, two counts of grand theft, and three counts of grand theft of a firearm. He was booked into the Escambia County jail Friday before being released on a $18,000 bond.

According to the Escambia County Sheriff’s Office, Gilly drove to a single family home on Dan Hall Road twice over a three day period in March where he entered the residence without permission. He is accused of taking firearms, jewelery, coins and electronics valued at approximately $6,000.

After the burglaries, Gilley utilized numerous online methods to sell the stolen items, deputies said.  When interviewed by deputies, “Gilly admitted to taking all of the property and indicated he needed money bad and was sorry for what he did,” according to an arrest report.

Gilly cooperated with deputies, the report states, allowing Sheriff’s investigators to recover almost all of the property that was stolen.

    This kid is looking for attention. He stole numerous things, tried to sell them, and used the pitiful excuse “I need money real bad”. Im sure he has a supportive family who would lend him money if he was in a bind. and Since he just had a CHILD, don’t you think that you should be out there looking for a JOB?? Stealing isn’t a way to support a family. Looks like Billy has a TON of growing up to do. 20 years old is young, but plenty old enough to know better! It’s sad that his child won’t have a father to look up too. Hopefully being behind bars will set him straight. I have no sympathy for low down people who do not work to EARN what they have.

    If he need money so bad why don’t be just go to work instead of doing what he does. This boy is not sorry he’s just trying to make it easy on him.

    Honestly Kayla, you have no idea what you are talking about. You weren’t effected by what he did!! You have no idea what this is doing to my family!! Everything is completely ripped apart, and nothing will EVER be the same! And I am in “his shoes” per-say. I’m so sick of everyone standing up for him and no one asking if my family is ok. And the only reason he is doing any kind of better is because of ME! So don’t sit there acting like you know what’s really going on, bc you DO NOT!!

    Kayla, you tell the rest of the world to not tell your theiving friend to not steal from them. Can you see that you are doing what you oppose in others?

    @Kayla M:
    What has he been trying lately. I agree with yptwf at no point in my life have I ever thought that stealing was a necessity. I don’t understand why people try to take up for criminals and he deserves all the criticism he receives from people on here. Those that defend people like thus are no better in my eyes. That’s what’s wrong with this country.

    For you “Kayla M” you obviously weren’t the one Billy decided to steal from and to say he has doing better lately- it was “lately” , just a few weeks ago actually that he broke into the home and stole these things. You are right, no one is perfect, but the people who are thieves are the people who choose to be. Billy chose this direction all by himself. He wasn’t forced to and he needs to pay for his decision. A long time in a jail cell just might wake him up!!

    Well he better think long and hard about it, do not think stealing things are worth getting killed over, and you know that happens now days

    You all just need to lay off, don’t tell him what he should or shouldn’t have done. Your not in his shoes- no this is not something great, but as far as I can see he has really been trying lately! So lay off- I’m sure you all arnt so “perfect” either!!

    My heart hurts for his family . Another young man in our community that has made a terrible choice . A good kid that decided to do something stupid . And yes I said a good kid because he is and loved by many and was taught to do better and no I am not related in any way.

    If he needed money so bad then he should have gotten out like everybody else and got a job. Stealing from people who have worked hard all their life for the things they have is wrong and no matter how bad you need the money it doesn’t justify what Billy did. I hope you stay in jail for a really long time Billy. Maybe that will give you some time to think about the people you have hurt and the things you have done that was wrong!!

    It’s ashame you have done this to your family Billy. You have just recently become a father, and now you’re looking at possible prison time. This is definitely nothing to be proud of.

    I am glad he got caught! People work hard for their things and to have a jerk steal it sucks. I hope he stays in jail, because he is not welcome back in ENON. I live out there and work to get the things I own. I know the people he robbed and they did not deserve him stealing, because had he said”I need help or I need money” someone would have given him the shirt off their back!
