Toddler In Good Condition After Being Pulled Unresponsive From Byrneville Pool

May 20, 2013

A toddler was airlifted to a Pensacola hospital Sunday afternoon after being pulled unresponsive from a pool in Byrneville.

The incident happened about 5:35 p.m. Sunday at a home in the 7600 block of Raines Road.

The homeowner told deputies that his 2-year old daughter wandered out of the house to play with other children during a birthday party. Another parent, Brittany Rogers, noticed the child sinking in the pool and pulled her out of the water.

The 2-year old, believed to have been in the water for less than five minutes, was unresponsive. Rogers carried the child into the residence and performed CPR prior to the arrival of first responders. The child was alert and breathing when Escambia County EMS arrived on a scene moments later.

She was transported by ambulance to the Escambia County EMS Post on Industrial Boulevard in Century and airlifted by LifeFlight to Sacred Heart Hospital in Pensacola.

As of Monday afternoon,  the girl was listed in good condition.

back yard pools are very dangerous and kill more kids each year than guns. please make your pools kidsafe with alarms and fences and locked gates. praise God she is going to be OK.

Just one more great reason to take CPR. You probably won’t ever need it…but on the chance that you do you could save some ones life!

As the father of a 15 month old precious baby girl, something like that is my worst nightmare. No one tells you that part of being a parent is being worried literally all the time. I’m off to sign up for a CPR class.

Praises to God for placing people who knew CPR close to this child. He must have more for her to do. :-)

Its that time of year people. The heat is here and backyard pools are full of water. A huge temptation to curious children. Please, take the ladder away from free standing pools so little ones cant get into them accidentally. And fence inground pools, with child proof gates. Yes, pool alarms and fences are expensive, but what is the life of a child worth? It takes mere seconds for a little one to get into serious trouble. I will never forget being 18 years old. Baby sitting. The little one was sleeping, or so I thought. I went to the bathroom, he went out the garage door and down the road. Could have been a huge tragedy. I was very lucky.

It has been 3 yrs. On the 27th that my oldest daughter found my youngest daughter age 3 at the time floating face down in a pool. We have the most amazing God for he was not done with her on this earth and spared her life. I am praying for your little girl and I am praying for your family because I truly know what you are going thru right now.
