May 9, 2013

An 11-year old girl was seriously injured when she was hit by a car while trying to cross the street Wednesday afternoon in Ferry Pass.

The Florida Highway Patrol said 61-year old Patricia Porter of Pensacola was traveling west on Escambia Johnson Avenue near the Winding Lane intersection. The FHP said 11-year old Cierra L. Holt ran across the road and into the path of the Mustang.

Holt was transported to Sacred Heart Hospital in serious but stable condition.

The FHP said their preliminary investigation showed Porter was traveling at the 35 mph speed limit. No charges have been filed in the accident.

I hope this little girl will be ok and I hope the lady who hit her will be ok too. I can only imagine how tramitic it must be to have that happen. I do not know the whole story but I do know that I personally have had children dart out infront of me while i’ve been driving and it’s very scary. I’m not saying this girl didn’t look before she ran out into the street but most children don’t. (a lot of adults dont either) We need to be more mindful of looking before we enter the street. Praying for all involved.
