May 16, 2013
The names have been released of an adult and a child were found apparently drowned Wednesday on the Sherman Cove beach aboard NAS Pensacola.
The victims have been identified as 32-year old Kimberly Tran and 8-year old Katherine Tran, both of Conyers, GA. Thursday morning, the Escambia County Sheriff’s Office said their investigation shows no early indications of foul play in the deaths.
Further details have not been released as the investigation by the ECSO, NCIS and the State Attorney’s Office continues.

I knew them, held them close to my heart. She was my little sister, and she was going to do some wonderful things in her life. They were too good for this world, God needed his Angels in heaven. They were selfless, true definitions of kind and humble. I still mourn them everyday, but I know they are happy together. They way it should have always been. I love you Kat and Kimberly (Mom), you have never been forgotten in the Elliott home…and from Grace’s life. I love you.

Katherine was a student that also attended Eastminster school in Conyers GA. She lived there with her mother. It can only be assumed that they were possibly taking an early vacation since school didn’t get out until May 31st.
Isn’t Conyers Beach the area open for swimming and sunbathing? They could live on base and decided to go to the beach. Their “from” GA but we all know they could have been stationed here and their former duty station could have been GA. You aren’t required to get a FL license when you’re military. They are exempt from the change of residency restrictions. This was a tragic accident. Stop trying to make it sound like it could’ve been more.
Thanks homeowner. We’ve heard there is a pit bull running loose killing cats. My boxer/bulldog is 1/4 pit but he’s a big puppy and runs from my cats, so I’m not saying the problem is because the dog is a pit bull. It’s the owners who are responsible for controlling their animals and some don’t take the time to teach or control their dogs. Worse still, some teach their dogs to fight. My dog is a big pussycat but I don’t have to teach him to defend me and I would feel sorry for anyone who tried to attack me.
I have a question or two. Did the people live within walking distance of the water and if not how did they get to the beach? Has a vehicle been located that belonged to the adult victim?
Bill, in my area of Beach Haven, on the north shore of the Bayou, two dogs run around loose together on a regular basis. They are a bit scruffy, and the smaller of the two is a non-neutered male. They look well fed and have collars. I figured they’re someone’s pets, and they just find a way to escape their fence sometimes. (I don’t know whose dogs they are). I always thought they were harmless until my mom told me they killed all our neighbor’s chickens and rabbits. Suddenly they don’t look so harmless to me any more! Perhaps they are the cat killers. I’m glad you found your pet safe & sound!
It’s getting pretty crazy here on Bayou Grande. I hope the families find peace and the victims RIP. Beside these deaths and the missing kayaker, we have had a bunch of cats killed by something or someone. It is bewildering. I just found my cat on a neighbors roof. He had been there since Sunday when something ripped my neighbor’s cat apart. Glad I finally found my Knubber and he’s back home where he belongs.
Praying for the peace and strength of the victims and their families.
Blessed are they that mourn: for they shall be comforted.
Matthew 5:4
The bodies washed ashore in the same area where the 21 year old kayaker has been missing since Monday. I cannot help but wonder if the young man stumbled upon the two drowning individuals, tried to help, capsized and perished himself.
