WHY NOT LET THE PUBLIC KNOW THE RACE, COLOR OF ALL PARTIES INVOLVED??? IT’S A CRIME…IF YOU DON’T HURT OTHER PEOPLE YOU WON’T END UP ON A PAGE LIKE THIS.IF YOU DON’T BREAK THE LAW YOU DON’T GET IN TROUBLE. I GET IT YOU NEED A CARD TO PLAY. NO ALL PEOPLE ARE STEREO TYPED BASED ON COLOR. I THINK MORE SO BASED ON ACTION. IF YOU RESPECT OTHER PEOPLE IN OUR SOCIETY, DON’T BREAK THE LAW THEN THE POPO PROBABLY WON’T MESS WITH YOU.

Amazing how all these liberals write that it’s racist to point out the colors of the victim and perps. The MsM has a tendency to not report the races and I commend this writer for doing so.

I knew Ms. Pugh in her grade school days and, even at age 6, she had major emotional and aggression problems. Obviously, the interventions didn’t work. The “system” supported and treated her as a child and failed, now they will be paying her for incarceration for who knows how many years. Too bad no one can find a way to fix this crazy, ongoing cycle of violence.

Crime is a disease sickening this whole section of Pensacola.

Seems to me that white people dont have the right to say hate crime, but let three white people kill one black person and it would be nation wide news!

    REGARDING:
“To me, it seems like the author wanted to evoke more emotion and outrage out of readers so they threw in the race of the victim. Obviously, I could be completely wrong, but that’s how it seems to me.”

Interesting that it seems that way to you.

Perhaps you would prefer the pictures of the accused also not be included Maybe people wouldn’t care that a woman was horribly murdered and others endangered if they didn’t know what the people involved looked like.

I will agree with you, though, that there are those who would be inflamed at the race of the killers and there are those who would think the murdered lady “had it coming” because of her race.

I just don’t think there are as many as you seem to assume nor that covering up the facts is a good idea. (“Just the facts, Ma’am.”)

I wonder if these 3 are the same ones shown on the video walking away nonchalantly?
Thank you, William for your reporting. If it is in the press release, you include it….as it should be!

It’s a shameful thing to kill a person for any reason other than to protect your own life or that of others, even worse to set fire to an apartment, thereby endangering other innocent people, to cover your sins.

It’s also shameful to justify murder based on any reason.

It’s probably more to do with drugs than race. As drugs are the cancer of society and makes people stupid. So I’m calling drugs on this one. Normal people do not go around killing people. Although hate can certainly be at play in some cases, I would say it is a higher probably of drugs. Just saying.

Thank goodness they caught these people. Praying for the victims family.

It doesnt matter the race. I’m just glad these three murderers are off the streets. Now they can’t do it again and they will be punished for their actions. Why does everyone have to make everything about race?

  14. hylton on April 7th, 2013 8:53 am

Folks, Sheriff Morgan was on live radio last week and he admitted that the black on white crime stats in Escambia County are 10 times higher than white on black, even though blacks only represent around 20 percent of the population. Look it up and see for yourself.

  15. sandra on April 7th, 2013 8:49 am

When a person is murdered regardless of race shouldn’t one assume that a tad of hate was involved?

  16. mick on April 7th, 2013 8:45 am

Regardless, black, white, red all over, if they did it, put these predators in a cage

    @ David M

You are completely wrong. The news was reported correctly…

  18. Sad State on April 7th, 2013 8:27 am

Sad State of this old world when this sort of thing happens. No matter the race, sex, who said what, it is terrible. Setting a fire in what was likely an occupied dwelling with innocent persons these three alleged persons put other lives at risk including the fire department personnel who responded. What was so very important that they had to do this act? So many people have no soul anymore, they are unfeeling and care only about themselves and what is going on at the moment. There is no long term thinking, “Hey, if I do this I might be in prison for a very long time.” Terrible things happening every day here anymore. You can hardly go a day without a murder or attempted murder. Thank goodness for the Law Enforcement and Fire / Rescue / EMT personnel.

Why is always one way. If a white person kills a black they always look and assume its a hate crime but when its they other way around people make remarks like you are racest if you ask the question. Just seems like double standards

    >>>the author wanted to evoke more emotion and outrage out of readers so they threw in the race of the victim

The race of the victim was included only because the Sheriff’s Office included it in their press releases, including the one before the race of the suspects was known outside of their department.

One can presume that since the ECSO included the race of the victim, it might be important. So it was included in our story. We’ll find out Monday when they hold their news conference.

Weird how the author of this article wrote “the body of 33 year old white female, Melinda McCormick, was found shortly after 2am Sunday.” To me, it seems like the author wanted to evoke more emotion and outrage out of readers so they threw in the race of the victim. Obviously, I could be completely wrong, but that’s how it seems to me.
