GAM… You make a good point and maybe you’ll get your wish because the FHSAA is under a full-fledged outright attack right now by the Florida legislature. So call your state senator. It seems that that is the only way the FHSAA can be motivated to change.
The district tournament needs to be changed. If a team ends the regular season with the best district record they should be considered the winner. Let the others battle it out for the number two spot. Years ago the regular season record WAS the determining factor. No one could beat Tate so the didtrict tournament was put in place to give teams another chance of making it.
If our area sends a team down the road to the state championship, wouldn’t we want the best team to go? Anyone could have a bad game and a lesser team put the better team out of the running…..what a shame that is.
Take for instance the Tate softball team this year. 14-0 in the district. One bad game and their season is done. 14-0. I think that those girls EARNED the chance to go on, omly to have it undone by this idiotic tournament. I’m glad the baseball tourney has ended up #1 and #2. It needs to be changed. Hey they finally got rid of the BCS in college football…….who knows?
