Seven Qualify To Run For Ford District 2 House Seat
April 24, 2013
Six Republicans and one Democrat qualified this week to run in a special election to replace state Rep. Clay Ford, a Gulf Breeze Republican who died in March. The Republicans are Ed Gray of Gulf Breeze; Mike Hill of Pensacola; Scott Miller of Gulf Breeze; Jack Nobles of Pensacola; David Radcliffe of Gulf Breeze; and Mark Taylor of Pensacola.
The Democrat is Jeremy Lau of Pensacola.
The elections will be in House District 2, which includes Pensacola, Gulf Breeze, Perdido Key and the remainder of the southern area of Escambia County.
Qualifying in the House District 2 race began Monday and ended Tuesday. The Republican primary will be held May 14, while the general election is scheduled for June 11.
The May 14 primary election will be open only to registered Republicans in House District 2, due to Florida’s closed primary law. All registered voters in House District 2, regardless of party affiliation, will be eligible to vote in the June 11 general election.
