Fishhook,
We moved to help raise more monies so we could help more children. We had out grown Blackwater River (where we started), so we moved to the Escambia River, then we out grew Escambia River , so we moved to Alabama.
I hope you understand it has nothing to do with anything more than trying to help more children and raise more monies. All monies we raise come back to Sacred Heart and now we have our fishing friends in Alabama helping us, as well as our loyal Florida fishing friends.
Fishhook…
My husband has participated in Log A Load for many years. According to him, it’s not that Florida isn’t good enough, but the river is not big enough for all the fishermen. Hope this helps!
I remember the Crippled Children’s tournament in ‘86 or ‘87 at Live Oak Landing that hosted 317 boats. It was a beautiful sight across the water before daylight with all the reflections. Live Oak accommodated the event very well. I wish Escambia Co. in Florida had some landings up river that could handle a tournament of that size but thankful for what we have…
>>>Does anybody know if it will require Florida residents to get an Alabama fishing license to fish the FL based tournament?
I checked on this one for you. According to the tourney organizers… “They would need an Alabama Fishing license because they are fishing in the state of Alabama. We have to abide by all federal and state rules.”
i agree with “ME”
florida does not have to many boat ramps to host a big tournament like this. therefore alabama would be the easiest for parking and and boat traffic..
Does anybody know if it will require Florida residents to get an Alabama fishing license to fish the FL based tournament?
The tournament has been held at Swamp House Marina on Escambia River for years, but due to the number of fisherman, boats, and trucks there are not really any boat ramps big enough around here. It was always packed at Swamp House.
Why don’t they use a fl. river for the tournament. Florida Forestry Association and the Florida Loggers Council and Sacred Heart are all Fl base companies. Why do it out of state. What are they saying. Fl rivers not good enough. I glad they do for the cause but doing it in the state would make money for the local vendors. Not trying to affend anybody JUST WONDERING?
