Local Area Remembers, Prays For Boston

April 17, 2013

Residents across the area remembered Boston Tuesday and the tragic bombing at the finish line of the Boston Marathon on Monday. Pictured top: The 17th Avenue train trestle in Pensacola, commonly known as “Graffiti Bridge”, was painted with the message to “Pray for Boston”. And flags across the area were lowered to half staff upon an order from Gov. Rick Scott, including the Byrneville Community Center (pictured below). NorthEscambia.com photos, click to enlarge.

TTHE 17TH STREET TRAIN TRESSEL, PENSACOLA, FL The trestle was built with wooden pilings in 1888 as a connection between Pensacola and Jacksonville. CSX began work last summer to replace the wooden trestle with a structure that needs only 11 concrete support pilings. The new bridge will increase the navigable underpass used by boaters from 20 feet to 44 feet.

@Laverne, You could possibly find answers through http://www.historicpensacola.org or through
The West Florida Railroad Museum at http://www.wfrm.org/

There is also probably a State of Florida or DOT office that is responsible for inspecting the Train Trestle on a regular basis or every time an 18 wheeler or RV tries to go under it at hits it. They might have that information on file.

Our prayers go out to those who are injured , our current president feels no need to call on God. our protector, for this I am very sad. Sad as it is, there is most likely going to be more. Why, Our leadership has turned it’s back on God.God bless all those who have worked and served to help those who are in need. For so long we have kept God close, and now it seems popular to throw him away. Well may God still bless and protect us, but I do not know why he should.

I pray for the victims in theBoston terrorist attack and for all the wounded innocent citizens. A sad part in American history. I still believe that this act was an terrorist attack prepared by Al Quaida and I hope that the Obam Adminstration won’t try to cover itup. God bless all the victims and the United States ofAmerica!
