Flomaton Wreck Leads To Manhunt In Century

April 22, 2013

One person was injured and another fled the scene after a single vehicle accident Sunday night in Flomaton.

The accident happened just after 10 p.m. on College Street, between the railroad crossing and Ringold Street. The driver of the vehicle lost control, ran off the roadway, hit a ditch and overturned. The vehicle came to rest upside down in a yard. One occupant of the vehicle, described only as a black male, reportedly fled the scene on foot towards Florida.

A female occupant of the vehicle was transported by Escambia County (Fla.) EMS to Jay Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

A manhunt involving a K-9 unit from the Century Correctional Institution, the Flomaton Police Department, Escambia County (Ala.) Sheriff’s Office and the Escambia County (Fla.) Sheriff’s Office followed in an area along the state line, including an area behind Odom’s Bar in Century. There was no immediate word of any arrests late Sunday night.

The accident remains under investigation by Alabama State Troopers.

    I know both of these people, both are dear friends of mine. The lady is still having problems with her injuries.

    Whatever, it is surprising that anyone came out of this wreck alive.
    Gotta have one heck of a headache.
    Hope they apprehend the “alleged suspect” who by our laws is presumed innocent until proven otherwise in a court of law.
    Just sayin’

    @Cygie,

    Fred was asking a rhetorical question. In other words, he was stating an obvious fact in a question format. I, too, wondered why the female occupant was not questioned (or the information reported) as to the identity of the fleeing driver of the car. My guess is she knows since she was in the car with him.

    @ fred: what part of tha article states that the famale occupant was unable to provide a name or description? I am not seeing that in the article.

    Law enforcement does have a name they were given for the person that fled. However, the name has not been confirmed and the name has not been released.

    Hmmm…wonder why the female occupant couldn’t tell them who he was and where to find him?
