Boat Accident Kills One; Injures Four Others

One person was killed and four others injured in a boat accident Saturday in Santa Rosa Sound.

Gary Lowry, 61,  was killed in the accident when his speedboat hit a wake and went airborne. The boat  broke apart  when it landed south of Shore Line Park in Gulf Breeze.  Lowry’s son and daughter-in-law, Scott and Stephanie Lowry of Cantonment, both age 42, along with 33-year old Lauren Williams were injured in the crash. Scott Lowry and Williams remained in Baptist Hospital on Sunday; Stephanie Lowry was released Saturday. A fourth passenger was airlifted to a Birmingham hospital in unknown condition.

The crash is under investigation by the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission.

    Worked for Gary for 12 yrs, my husband & I did the framing layout under Greg. I’m sitting hear trying to say the correct words there isn’t any.death takes us all some go slowly some go fast.with out sounding cold but its my experience that slow gives us time to say everything. I’m so sorry for your loss!
