Passenger In Olive Road Crash Dies

April 29, 2013

One person has died as result of injuries received in wreck following a traffic crash Sunday on Olive Road.

The Florida Highway Patrol said at 2:18 a.m. 25-year old Candace McArthur was closely following another vehicle westbound on Olive Road. Troopers said McArthur had been involved in an altercation with the other unidentified driver earlier in the evening.

The driver of the other vehicle switched into the opposite lane and braked to avoid McArthur’s 2002 Chevrolet Impala. McArthur lost control and over-corrected. The Impala slid across Olive Road and onto the shoulder before hitting tree.

McArthur was taken to Sacred Heart Hospital with serious injuries. Her passenger, 19-year old Cassidy Dunaway was transported to Sacred Heart in critical condition and was pronounced deceased Monday.

Traffic homicide charges are pending, according to FHP.

She didn’t get charged with anything. They charge the driver of the vehicle.

Its called karma and i hope she gets what she deserves. If she wasn’t on drugs or drinking thn hopefully she gets a lesser punishment but im sure she was. So you Gota face the consequence s of ur decision. Yes her brother is deceased. So she has seen her niece an nephew grow up w.out one parent. But the other parent is not a pos! She changed her life. She’s not out doing drugs or partying anymore.she’s at home w.her kids at nite and day. That entire family has issues and they all need help! This family gets away w.a lot of things and I wont b surprised if ths slips by thm too. But no matter what she will be judged one day! I’m sorry for the loss of Cassidy. May she rip

“Candace’s child was in the vehicle that she was following behind, her ex-boyfriend was the other driver. She shouldn’t have been following that close with her baby being in that car.” From Lizzy on April 29th…. THAT is where we came up with her children were in the car. Reqardless. She should have been home with her children and not partying. Then Cassidy would still be alive. This young life was lost because of a mother who cares more about drugs and alcohol then the wellbeing of her children. I am sure she will get the max sentence possible because if anyone knows this ignorant woman they know she always has drugs or boos. I have faith in the justice system and justice shall be served one way or another. Even if she is not convicted in the court system she will live with this guilt for the rest of her life and I hope she can handle looking at herself in the mirror each and every day from here on out.

Come on people only the ones involved know what really was going on, not gonna speculate and judge! God will be the final judge and jury. Just pray for all involved!

I have daughters almost thirty and twenty eight years old they both have children. I cannot even imagine that they would ever put their babies in any kind of danger over a man or anyone else for that matter. This young girl has wrecked her children’s life and her own and she has caused the life of another young person to end because of wreckless , dangerous behavior and there is no amount of being sorry that can fix this situation . What a waste ! Now if she makes it through her own critical injuries sh’ell face felony charges that will land her in prison for a good minute if she is convicted . And i’m quite sure our justice system will work for the deceased person !

I think it is a shame that’s ppl that don’t even know the truth get on here and bash someone elses mothering. Her children weren’t in either of the cars.. it was two am really they both were in a safe place with her mother. So keep to what you know! This is a horrible insident! I pray for cassidys family and friends! This is hard. But it was not intentional!!! And you all should know that. But ppl always try and point the. Blame. Its all in gods hands. Lord please give everyone the strength to get threw this! God bless

Any mother that would put her child in danger like that AND risk never seeing her children again due to possibly killing herself should not have cutody of those babies. They are not on the top of her priority list but i bet that someone else will love them and put them first like they deserve. Children should be your life. Not drus, alcohol and partying. When you become a parent any responsible person would change their life syle and ways. Esp. since she already knows first hand what it is like to see children grow up with a deceased parent and the other POS parent. Thank God for her momma to save those innocent babies.

Road Rage backfired and to think her young child was in the other car and could have been killed if she had hit them. Why would any mother put their child in danger. If she felt the child was in danger being in the other car, then call the police and let them stop the x-boyfriend. A very tragic ending to what sounds like a domestic problem. Her friend Cassidy paid the price, and now Candace will live with this quilt for the rest of her life. Sad time for all involved, Prayer for the family of both young ladies.

Candy needs to be fined the biggest fine there is maybe even the death penelty she killed an innocent person. She needs to be gone just like what happened to her friend.

Cassidy, I”m gonna miss you girl! Your smile and fun free will personality was always in the spotlight. I’m really proud of you graduating high school this past December; and I know that your future would’ve been as bright as you.. I told you at graduation if you needed me, let me know and I’d do anything that I could for you. I wish I could’ve done something about this to have prevented it. A lot of people are hurting over you being gone right now; a lot of tears; a lot of sadness; but there are still a lot of smiles of all the memories that everyone has of and with you. We’ll all miss you tremendously. All my love girl-

Candace McArthur deserves ANY & ALL charges brought against her! like someone said, road rage back fired, and now the price has been paid.

  18. DEAD!!! on April 29th, 2013 4:23 pm

Did any of you notice, there is a 19 year old girl dead from this ridiculous incident?? Who cares what the rhyme or reason was, this 25 year old girl deserves to be locked up for her foolishness!!

Candace’s child was in the vehicle that she was following behind, her ex-boyfriend was the other driver. She shouldn’t have been following that close with her baby being in that car.

@curious: I was not aware that someone has to know somebody else they get into an altercation with.

  21. mick on April 29th, 2013 9:24 am

Like ajhenn said take the license, but thats not enough, people are driving without them as I type this, fine her heavily so that she wont be able to afford a vehicle for at least 5 years…

  22. curious on April 29th, 2013 8:22 am

It sounds like she knew them because story said she had altercation earlier in the evening.

  23. ajhenn on April 29th, 2013 8:12 am

Please take away this lady’s driver’s license. She’s going to end up killing some innocent people by her recklessness.

  24. dan-o on April 29th, 2013 2:27 am

This story sounds like a bit of road rage that back fired on the agressor. Maybe she learned a lesson, maybe not. Best wishes for a full recovery for both.
