Thousands Attend Blue Angels Practice Amid Uncertain Future

March 28, 2013

A final public practice is planned this morning for the Blue Angels, beyond that is a very uncertain future for the Navy’s flight demonstration squadron.

At least eight Blue Angel air shows have been canceled in the coming months due to federal budget cuts. There’s no word yet if the sequester will cut the big air show this July over Pensacola Beach.

Wednesday morning, an estimated 8,000 fans braved cool temperatures to watch a Blue Angels practice at NAS Pensacola.

I love the blues and the beach is so dependent of that big weekend that It will literaly kill some of those businesses if the show is cancelled. My family stays on the beach that weekend every year. That being said the blues have always been a big waste of taxpayer money. Not a popular fact but a fact none the less.

Yep, I knew all that too…just didn’t want to seem to be a know it all…I’m glad you posted that JCELLOPS….there’s no doubt there’s plenty of blame to go around for the Obama phones. Another “bread and circuses” approach to appeasing the masses (check Roman history on that term).

The grain of truth at the core of this is that Obama and his minions won’t DARE cut obama phones or welfare or anything else like that BECAUSE that’s their core of support…they buy their votes through their programs.

Cutting out White House tours, as if he’s some third world thug that can deny the people contact with their national institutions doesn’t hurt his base b/c it doesn’t cut any $$$ to his core of supporters. Cutting the Blues doesn’t hurt those using the Obama phones and on public assistance at least not directly.

Yet most would dare not criticize the “Beloved Leader”….out of fear of being labeled something…meanwhile a racist legislator from Mobile gets cart blanche to insult half of the state of Alabama. People need to stand up and educate themselves and ask exactly why certain aspects of the government is being cut and not others.

re marks comment: reagan started the LIFELINE program, true- back in the 80’s for LANDLINE discounts…but, the program (controlled by the FCC) has spun waaaay out of control with fraud and misuse since its earlier inception…in the year 2008, the federal gov’t spent a mere 772 MILLION taxpayer dollars on the “free” phones and monthly service fees…but, then..in the year 2012, the same federal program expanded to the grand total of 1.6 BILLION dollars!!!! ….which then serviced 12.5 MILLION wireless accounts!!…..if you quaify for food stamps, you qualify for a free TRACFONE….gee whiz, whoever manufactures those tracfones sure is doing some GOOD business and makiing lots of $$$$$$, right? hhmm…wait, F.J. Pollak CEO of TRACFONE, hes the one making a killing on all of these “free” phones….oops, did i forget to mention that he was one of president obamas MAJOR donors/supporters?….yep, he and his wife, abigail, hosted a $40,000.00 /plate fundraising dinner in miami for the president. …they peronally contributed over $50,000.00 and visited the WHITE HOUSE 7 times…(all pubic record)…..naw….no connection here….just coincidence, im sure (love the BLUES!!)

So we suspend the Blues, while the highness in chef continues to vacation as if we have all the money in the world, Oh, yes he wishes his subject to suffer, Only thing he needs is a fiddle.

    @Friction against the machine

Check your resources. The “Obamaphones” did not originate with Obama. This was a program started by Ronald Regan back in 1984!

Why it’s called an “Obamaphone” I don’t know, it should be called a Reganphone”.

Getting rid of the Blue Angles are like getting rid of a National Icon. Get rid of something else anything. Proud of the Blue Angels, getting rid of The Blues or like getting rid of our air supply. We need the Blue Angels. Go Big Blue we all Love Y’all

    >>Not sure what happened to Michael’s post, but I disagree with him.

His post was deleted from the site due a carefully crafted substitution for a very profane word that originally slipped past the filters. He was also banned from because of profanity/racial terms in multiple posts this morning.

Not sure what happened to Michael’s post, but I disagree with him. There is a widely held mistaken belief that the Blue Angels are an aerobatic team. They are not. They are a flight demonstration team that showcases the pinnacle of combat flight maneuvers executed by our Navy pilots. In a non fascist presentation, they show us (and our enemies) the capabilities of these aircraft, pilots and crew. I, for one, take great comfort in knowing that such skills are executed in the field of battle. This is the reason we enjoy air superiority. I’m not saying the Blues are the reason such skills exist, but they are a great communicator of those skills and a huge source of national pride. Perhaps the suspension of airshows is a good thing, because it helps remind everyone of the dysfunctional leadership in Washington that brought sequestration and draconian budget cuts. They have had years to work this out, but have not done so. A long term solution should have been reached, but they were all too busy campaigning. The sequestration is a national shame, but some seem to relish in it. Whether the greater portion of blame lies on Capitol Hill or Pennsylvania Avenue, they all share in it. I hope we remember this at the next elections. And remember, $60 Billion for Iraq reconstruction, but not a penny for Social Security.

How about we keep the Blues and suspend the Obama phones!? Thanks Obama&friends.

I agree Michael. I think of all the Air Force Thunderbird shows I had to cook and cleanup afterward during my career.

People come and trash everything, but do not consider that it will have to be cleaned up, by someone else. Have a rum festival, that will bring them running to the beach to spend their money.

I would rather see Air Force One grounded!

The Blues are one of the most talked about show. They make you proud! Obviously you did not grow-up in this area!
