Second Arrest Made In Cantonment Murder

March 8, 2013

A second arrest has been made in connection with a deadly drug-related  home invasion late last year in Cantonment.

D’Montrey Antuan James, age 24 of Cantonment, was arrested overnight and is being held without bond in the Escambia County Jail on a charge of homicide. James and 32-year old Robert Dale Purifoy of Cantonment, who was arrested earlier this week, are accused of the murder of Amber Tricona Johnson.

Johnson, 22, who was shot and killed during an exchange of gunfire during a home invasion on Stefani Circle. Johnson was found dead inside the home from an apparent gunshot wound.

An undisclosed amount of money and a “significant” quantity of marijuana was found at the scene, leading investigators to believe that robbery was a motive

If you really look at this page, a lot of people are saying the same thing about this James guy .So maybe just maybe there maybe some truth about him being innocent..You never know people get charged with stuff all the time and did not do it..And you can see that their is nobody trying to defend the Purifoy guy….

Pretty Petty Pan are you suggesting that He was just following orders?

  6. toney montana on March 11th, 2013 1:37 pm

If he is innocent the lord will set him free.with that being said nobody really no what exactly happen so to post negative comments about him it just shows how judgmental people are when they don’t no the person

  7. Pretty Petty Pan on March 11th, 2013 1:02 pm

My point is he innocent he didn’t have none to do with that.. He never been in no trouble if you knew him he wouldn’t hurt or harm no one..

  8. Duke of Wawbeek on March 11th, 2013 12:14 pm

Pretty Pecan Tan. Mr James may have been a loving caring father but Reinhard Heydrich was too. What is your point?

  9. Pretty Pecan Tan on March 11th, 2013 9:55 am

James is innocent he is a loving caring father never been in any kind of trouble I don’t think he would do any thing like that he has 4 beautiful kids and a family. Innocent young man:(( so yal get the facts right before pointing fingers.. Thank you

I have to partially agree with river, in that, as a law abiding, productive member of society, I’m exhausted by the system’s waste on legal procedure while producing little justice. Someone’s dead… where’s the consequence linked to the actions taken? What’s taught to the citizenry when the deterrent is a joke.

What did happen to the guy who’s house this was is he still having drugs and cash in his house? And I don’t think this is the end of the story for this….

  12. nope on March 9th, 2013 5:34 pm

Yolonda. come onnnnn. this is NOT the first time D’Montrey James has been arrested. look @ clerk of court. aren’t these two related??? cousins??? i guess it will be who will tell on whoooo.

  13. Karen Adams on March 9th, 2013 4:21 pm

I agree with Yolanda I know Mr. James also and this is the first time he has ever been in trouble and this just totally blows my mind that this nice kid would do something like that. I say their has to be more than what is being said as for the rest i can’t speak them and i’m so sorry that a life was lost if Mr. James was involved then he need’s to pay the price and i guess this is lesson learned that you really don’t know people or who to trust……

  14. What to know on March 9th, 2013 10:00 am

So what happens to the guy who has the drugs at his home were this young lady was killed at ? Does he get a pat on the back he is to blame also , they have not said anything else about that.

  15. worried on March 9th, 2013 9:13 am

As the police found drugs, this was a situation waiting to happen. Someone died and someone SHOULD pay. I am tired of people saying OH give them a chance, they mde a mistake, my bad upbringing made me do, oh poor me I need the drugs ECT….. No more excuses. They need to take their punishment and stop crying!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ben i know that one of these guys is capable of thinking beyond 5 mins…He might be smarter than you. And he is in there because of lies anyway ,(Yall folks )as you said in your comment, might need to see how this all play out before you want to get people put in the electric chair and think about what your saying because some of your( kids) and family members my one day become future criminals also and as far as lawyers go (Chris ) you say yall are paying for there lawyers and appeals , no i dont think so when families are paying out of there pockets. Mr. James has a good loving support team behind him…And rather you know it or not this is the first time he has every been in trouble…I know that a young lady lost he life behind all this ,,But find out all the facts before you start judging people..

  17. chris1 on March 9th, 2013 6:22 am

Generally, it costs more to execute than life w/out.
YOU pay for many years of appeals and of course all their lawyers.

  18. billy on March 9th, 2013 2:36 am

Good luck with that…..they dont execute murderers

  19. river on March 8th, 2013 12:05 pm

If found guilty, No life in prison, Start frying these thugs… Save our tax money and not support them in prison. .Bring back the electric chair…I am sick and tired of supporting these thugs, If you fry every one of the criminals that are found guilty for how ever long it takes, Maybe, Just Maybe, Future criminals just might think first…
