Recipe: Magic Crust Custard Pie
March 24, 2013
Sometimes basics are best… and this tasty little custard number from home cook Robyn Witte has all the right ingredients to become a new favorite.
First, its classic vanilla custard flavor and gooey texture just can’t be beat. What’s more, this tasty confection comes together in a snap.
To prepare, simply combine all the ingredients in a blender then pour into a pie pan. The crust forms “magically” as the flour settles to the bottom of the pan during baking. It doesn’t get much easier than that!

Is the butter melted, softened, or just cold?
My son (age 11) who loves pie more that the average boy gives this pie two thumbs up. It’s nice for me that it’s also super simple to make especially when I want to do something special for him on days that aren’t my worst, but not my best either.
Sounds great! I’ve been looking for a good custard recipe for a while. My Mom also made a great custard when I was growing up, and I hope this at least reminds me of the great taste of it!
Granulated sugar…. just everyday white granulated sugar.
I have used this recipe and added coconut. Absolutely delicious!
I wondered though if you could use Splenda instead, for diabetics, etc…
Never tried this.
Enjoy!
This is also great with 1 cup of conconut added to the mix and one cup put on top. To clean blender just add soap and water and run it. Can’t get any easier than this.
Kathy it’s regular sugar. I’ve made this several times now and it is great every time.
when you say white sugar, is this regular sugar or powdered sugar.
