To rick. He will do the ten mandatory day for day and will only recieve the 85 percent on the remaining twenty
Thank you for reporting this criminal’s sentence. Hopefully this will deter someone else from robbing a cabbie.
Mick – All inmates in the Florida State Prison System serve 85% of their sentence regardless of minimum mandatory sentences. Parole was abolished in Florida in 1983, and the 85% minimum became law in 1995. If Phil was sentenced to 30 years, that’s 36 months. 85% of that is 30.6 months. So our friend will be locked up for about 25 1/2 years. You’re right about burden on society in or out. At least the cabbies are safe from him for a long time. Here’s where I got my facts: http://www.dc.state.fl.us/secretary/press/1999/pr032097.html, Florida Department of Corrections.
Mandatory 10 years is not enough, he should have to serve it all..hes a burden on society whether he’s in a cage or not…but his actions warrant the cage…good riddance..
