Trooper Pursuit Ends With Minor Wreck

February 11, 2013

A Florida State trooper was involved in a minor crash Sunday during a pursuit in Santa Rosa County.

The FHP said the trooper observed  a 2012 Chevrolet Cruze traveling at 110 mph on I-10. The trooper, in a marked 2012 Dodge Charger, overtook the Cruze at the intersection of Garcon Point Road and activated his emergency lights and siren in a traffic stop.

The vehicle fled west on Da Lisa Road for two-tenths of a mile before braking sharply, causing the trooper to strike the Cruze from behind. The driver of the Cruze then fled north on Woodville Road at a high rate of speed.

The pursuit was called off due to entering a residential neighborhood.

The trooper suffered minor injuries in the crash and was not transported to the hospital.  The trooper’s vehicle suffered about $2,500 in damage.

The driver of the Cruze probably had something on board that would have put them away for a few years and that’s why they ran. Better that than being caught redhanded. Now, all they’ll get will be speeding and attempting to elude law inforcement as well as causing a wreck. Not easy charges, to be sure, but better than jail time for drugs, etc.

Only a fool would attemp to outrun the law.

When the blue light comes on, signal and pull over, make eye contact, be polite.

The driver of the Cruze will be found — I’m sure the Trooper has the tag number along with the vehicle description. Expect that vehicle will have noticable damage as well.

Add leaving the scene of an accident with injury to the charges of felony fleeing and eluding a law enforcement officer to the driver’s charges.

Dash cam should have a close up of the tag. Now it will be a stolen vehicle.
