Man Gets 11 Years For Shooting

February 8, 2013

An Escambia County man was sentenced to almost 11 years in prison Thursday for a 2010 robbery gone wrong that ended with a murder.

Jarvis Lamar Jessie, 27, was sentenced to 10.8 years in prison for the shooting death of Donald Diego Turner, who was shot outside of his home in the 1600 block of Augusta Avenue on March 21, 2010.

Jessie pleaded no contest to manslaughter. He received the reduced sentence for testifying against co-defendant Charmdar Turner. Turner, who was convicted of second degree murder, will be sentenced next month.

There is someone I know that got mandatory 10 years for entering a house, no one home, stole a gun. Did not enter with a gun. Understand I think he should have been punished but 10 yrs and this guy only got 11 years for taking a life?????

    CONCERNING:
“He was probably charged with manslaughter and got a reduced sentence because he did not pull the trigger. ”

Actually, if I read it correctly elsewhere, he DID pull the trigger. The judge, however, figured he was just a tool of the other one who got him to do his bidding in the first place.

David for not being a puppet for killers

He was probably charged with manslaughter and got a reduced sentence because he did not pull the trigger. His sentence was for being involved in a robbery that ended up with someone being murdered. Watch the First 48 on A&E.

It is called plea bargaining….”he received the reduced sentence for testifying against his co-defendant Charmdar Turner. Turner who was convicted of 2nd degree murder will be sentenced next month”.
Plea bargains = coddling one criminal to ensure the conviction of another.

11 years (actually 10.8) for killing another man while in the commission of a felony? It was during a botched armed robbery! Only 11 years? He’ll be out in 8. A guy kills his wife during a drunken argument and gets 50 years. Ok, I can see that…he did kill her, even though he claims he doesn’t remember. But 11 years for murder… during a robbery? Give me a break!

This is our wonderful nations justice system, a joke… the kind you forget to laugh at….

  10. Fix it??? on February 8th, 2013 9:58 am

So what is the solution to a broken legal system?

When children are misbehaving, their parents correct them. But, when ADULTS misbehave we must follow the “law” and yet it still doesn’t seem to be the right answer or even correct the actions of others.

Bad is bad and bad will always be around. It’s a darn shame that holds no answer to fix it.

He would have been given 20yrs if he was DUI and somebody stepped out in front of his car and died… 10.8 for killing a person is just wrong.. Our courts have failed again..

The man that killed his wife got 50 but this cat doesn’t even get 11 years, for killing during robbery, he should have got the same, killing is killing. That is why you kill them when they come thru your door.
