Man Finds $12,000 In Bank Bag, Returns It
February 1, 2013
An Escambia County man that found over $12,000 in cash turned it into authorities.
George Cooper was cleaning the Pensacola Bay shoreline area behind his home in the 8700 block of Scenic Highway when he saw a plastic bag that turned out to contain $12,303 in cash and some paperwork. Cooper took the bag to Coastal bank and Savings on East Nine Mile Road where it was turned over to the Escambia County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies later learned the money was not stolen but had been lost by Loomis Armored Car Services.

In a world full of thieving and killing, this is a refreshing change of pace. It’s good to know that there are still honest people in this world.
@Gary,
That’s what I was thinking. They don’t just “lose” cash.
Thank God—-there are still honest people out there. But——money smells a little fishy—-sure— someone just “accidentally” dropped a bag with $12000.00 in the water. Did not even here it make a splash.
I am proud of what that man did! Praise God for his honesty. It says a lot about his integrity. I pray he receives a blessing from God for it because no reward he receives on earth can compare to what God can give him. Wish more people in this world were like him. Thank you sir for what you did. Your family and friends should be proud of you.
The gentleman who returned the money is definitely on my “A” list! He deserves a lot of gratitude and and “atta-boy” for his honesty and trustworthyness!
I worked for Loomis back when they were Wells Fargo Armored as a driver/guard and I can tell you it is almost impossible to ‘lose’ any cash or coin. I won’t go into any details about how they keep from losing money due to respect and privacy for their industry, but I will tell you this had to be an employee looking for some quick cash.
Good for the gentleman who turned it in and I hope he does get an award. I would like to know more about the employee who came back to the terminal one day and told his supervisors he was a little short on his deliveries….
Awesome Man. If only the world could follow.
maybe it flew out the door on the bridge and washed up on the shoreline! not hardly….What a honnest guy! we need more people like him
The man should at 10% of the money found atleast a reward for turning it in.
Maybe so we want know for sure, hope so for the man….
That was a good hearted man. Most would not have done that.
And how much business will Loomis be doing now……..??
yea that money was lost…on purpose! I would be questioning and investigating how my Armored Car Service employees lost 12 grand on the “shoreline’. Somebody was coming back for that. Bless the man that returned it..they should give him the money and fire the people who lost it
How does a Armored truck lose 12 grand in someones backyard?
