Century Man Charged With Brandishing Firearm, Threatening To Kill At Whataburger

February 21, 2013

A convicted felon from Century wanted for brandishing a firearm and threatening to kill a man in a Whataburger parking lot was arrested in Pensacola after a high speed chase.

Deputies spotted 27-year old Travis Montes Mitchell in his white Mustang on 57th Avenue near Jackson Street on Tuesday. They attempted a traffic stop due to outstanding felony warrants, but Mitchell fled at a high rate of speed, leading deputies on a chase along Lillian Highway to Border Street where he fled on foot.

Deputies surrounded the area and caught up with Mitchell after observing him jumping fences and running through residential yards.  After deputies arrested Mitchell, they reported finding marijuana roaches in his pockets and bags of marijuana in his vehicle.

Felony warrants were issued for Mitchell’s arrest after an incident February 2 in the parking lot of the Century Whataburger. He was accused of hitting and injuring an adult male. The victim told deputies that Mitchell pulled a handgun and threatened to kill him. Mitchell fled the parking lot in his Mustang as law enforcement arrive on scene.

Mitchell was charged with aggravated battery, aggravated assault, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and improper exhibition of a firearm in connection with the Century Whataburger incident. Following the high speed chase in Pensacola, Mitchell was charged with fleeing and eluding with disregard for public safety, driving while license suspended third or subsequent offense, possession of cannabis with intent to distribute and obstruction/resisting without violence.

Mitchell remained in the Escambia County Jail Thursday morning with bond set at $125,500.

If this guy has a son, he is certainly a pathetic role model. The kids are always the ones to suffer. Don’t have a kid if you don’t plan to be around and be a father. The state really shouldn’t have to pay the tab while inmates sit on their behinds doing nothing. Make prison more like a Mexican jail and they won’t be so nonchalant about going back. As for a few of these posters, try writing whole sentences in English and people might pay attention to what you write.

People get what the deserve. Travis has been in and out of trouble for as long as I have known of him. Maybe if he would start doing something productive with his life this wouldn’t keep happening. And to the wondering, no Travis wasn’t being robbed. He pulled the gun over a female who isn’t worth it and she was only one of the many!

YOU ASK WHERE THE WOMEN HE WAS rUNNING WITH BE AT… WITH THEIR DUMB SELVES RIGHT BY HIS SIDE. THEY THINK THAT STUFF MAKE HIM A MAN. THEIR MINDS ARE OBVIOUSLY SMALL. AND DOESNT HE HAVE MORE THAN ONE SON. POUR CHILDREN. NO FATHER…. NOT THAT HE APPEAR TO BE A IDEAL MAN TO FOLLOW ANYHOW….SEE WHAT NO EDUCATION GET YOU…..

Dang… I knew Travis from high school. He was a good guy. Don’t know what happened to him. I figured he would have learned from the first time he went to prison.. I hope one day he can turn his life around.

@ Giddy…..Bless your heart honey, were you with this dude?
Your rap don’t make no sense at all.
Obviously, you know him since you say you’ve seen him with all these women whose names you keep confidential.
Looks to me like he was caught with his roaches in his pants after trying to elude the cops.
Good work on the part of LEO and hope he gets to work out his last days on the road crew doing something positive for us tax payers. After all, he will be our ward for the remainder of his days.
For the life of me the statement you made about “foe the son” made no sense at all. If he has kids who would want to be the woman to birth them?

Wow. Who was the victim? Why keep it confidential? Wonder what they where fighting over?? Marijuana maybe? The whole ‘victim’ thing is overrated. How do we know the ‘victim’ wasnt trying to rob mr.mitchell? 2 sides to each story! All the females ive seen this fellow with, wonder how many will support him now? interesting topic. I feel bad foe the son also. His dad obviously doesnt want to better himself for the right reasons.

Free your “Dawg”? Your “dawg” is a convicted felon with a gun who showed no concern for public safety. Please explain to me why he should be freed?
