Two Century Residents Arrested On Multiple Drug Charges

January 3, 2013

Two Century residents were arrested on a drug charges after Escambia County Sheriff’s deputies attempted to serve an outstanding arrest warrant.

When deputies responded to a mobile home on Grimes Road outside Century to serve the warrant, they reported observing Christopher Borders, Bethany Shell Carter and an unidentified male inside. They reported Carter appeared to be rolling a marijuana cigarette, and watched as Borders and the other male light and smoke a white rock-like substance inside a glass vial. The unidentified male fled the mobile home before deputies could make contact with him.

Inside the mobile home, deputies also reported finding a bag of marijuana and drug paraphernalia. In a purse belonging to Carter, deputies located methamphetamine, a partially burnt marijuana cigarette and Lortab pills not in a prescription container.

Carter was charged with possession of methamphetamine, possession of marijuana, possession of a controlled substance without a prescription and possession of drug paraphernalia. She was released from the Escambia County Jail on a $6,000 bond.

Borders was charged with two counts of possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of marijuana. He was later released from jail on a $2,000 bond.

My daughter went to school with Bethany. I know her mother and know this is breaking her heart. This is awful, Bethany was always a beautiful young lady. God, to know this can happen, goes to show you it can happen to anyone. Thank God it hasn’t happened to my family. Just to prove my saying, you can teach your child and lead them to the right path, but, you cannot make them take that path. Prayers for the families.

    REGARDING:
“OK let the that hath not sinned cast the first stone”

Saying something is bad is not the same thing as casting a stone to kill them. (That was what Christ was talking about. After he noticed nobody was willing to kill the lady he told her to, “Go and sin no more.” Thus he acknowledged what she had been up to was wrong. That’s what most of these folks are doing.)

That said, I also hope Adam straightens out in the future.

I kept looking at these pictures and thinking…. hmm those names seem familiar but the faces don’t…. then I realized who these 2 are! I’m floored at how awful they look to be so young!

Adam, please get your life together and give your family a break! They have been through enough. Your mom has been through enough.. why put her through this too? And step up and be a GOOD role model for your siblings, be a man!

Bethany, I worked with your mom and she always bragged about how proud she was of you, bless her heart I bet she isn’t proud now. You had such a promising future, you were a CNA and striving to be more, what happened? Was it worth it? You were always a very beautiful girl too, it breaks my heart to see you like this. I pray for you and your mom. She’s a good woman too, and you are breaking her heart.

Adam has had every chance in life to do the right thing. His mom taught him this from an early age. Yes he made bad choices. But how do you expect a person to change when he gets out of jail, comes back to the same town that is a host to drug addicts. Century is full of drugs! Old and young. A person cannot go to jail, serve his time, come back and hang out with the same type of people he hung out with before. A drug addict HAS to take a stand to stay away from that type of person, be it in his hometown or wherever. He/she has to say NO. There is a life that is drug free for everyone but each individual has to chose the life they want to lead. You can’t make an addict quit his/her addiction. They have to WANT to quit. God Bless this young man and his family.

For those who are addicts prison doesn’t work. They need God and rehab like New Beginnings in Brewton. A place that will focus on helping a person change physically, mentally and spiritually. There are so many people in need of help. May God help us help them. Adam and Bethany, God loves you, it’s not going to be easy, the road is long and difficult BUT you can make it. I’m sure I’m not the only one pulling for you.

I hate to see this about her. Smh. Drugs are a bad thing to get caught in. But prayers for both families. Maybe her eyebrows will grow back too.

@ cygie: LOL!!!! A mistake? You mean several!!

  11. never gonna learn on January 3rd, 2013 11:12 am

@ cygie: This girl has made more than one bad decision, she had her chance to straighten up many times & blew it. I agree to pray for her but one has to want to change for it to happen. She has went downhill really bad the past few years, maybe this will open her eyes and make her realize how good of a life she once had.

  12. wow on January 3rd, 2013 8:12 am

Some people will never learn. Why would someone wanna live their life that way & go from looking decent to looking that way. . I agree with Jane. They should not be released so easy. They’ll go right back to it. Ignorance.

  13. cygie on January 3rd, 2013 7:11 am

@ old girl: must be nice to be able to cast that first stone. The girl has made a bad decision, so prayer is a better alternative than mockery.

It should cost them more to be released on bail. They are druggies, they have money. It seems unfair that the deputies arrest them and then they are out again on bail right away.
