Tonight: BCS National Championship Or Century Town Council Meeting?

January 7, 2013

Despite the BCS National Championship game tonight, the regular first Monday night meeting of the Century Town Council will be held as usual, according to town officials.

The Century Town Council meeting begins at 7 p.m. at the Century Town Hall.  The next meeting of the council, normally scheduled for the third Monday night of the month, has been rescheduled to January 28 due to the Martin Luther King, Jr. holiday. All meetings are open to the public.

The BCS National Championship game between Alabama and Notre Dame kicks off just after 7:30 p.m. on ESPN.

I guess it will show whats more important to the residents of Century…..i guess when they have to pay more for water, they will only have themselves to blame for not attending the meeting. Business before pleasure.

@ Resident: If its that important to you, or you really think that they will ‘pull over your eyes tonight’, GO TO THE MEEETING! Not bad government, just poor choice YOU are making.

It is clear that Century is out of touch with its citizens. Why could this meeting not be held one hour earlier or moved to a different day? The council must know the average citizen would not be able to attend.

And this just happens to be the meeting where they will hike water rates — presumably with little or no citizens input or oversight. What else will they pull over our eyes tonight? Pay raises? Bonuses? Other tax hikes?

    Bad government.
