There are two lit intersections with traffic lights a quarter mile both directions from this area. I think its called jay walking if the person isnt in a crosswalk. If so the driver(s) want be charged. If im wrong let me know.

This is a bad place on Mobile HWY. Always had been. They’ve tried for a light for many years but have been shot down because the distance between that location and the other two lights is too short. Michigan Ave has lights at every “busy” intersection. It’s time Mobile Hwy does too.
Susan, I am sorry to hear about what happened to you as a child. The county doesn’t have a Mayor, though. This part of Pensacola is not in the city.

I was their last night also… I’ve also stopped to save a mans life hit in the exact same spot about 6 years ago. I live near by my children have crossed Mobil hwy. Yes there is a cross walk a block from the location. But let me speak my mind . Behind happy china is a wooded area known to our neighborhood as the cut.
It’s a short cut… To Everything and opens up to Mayfair park. We all use it. You can also cut in behind Walmart…which leads to the same place. I am guilty of crossing thousands of times in a no cross walk zone.
I agree everyone travels beyond the speed limit.. I feel sad for the Pedestrian’s that have lost their lives in that location….. My prayers go out to the drivers who were involved in this tragedy. I talked to the man that was driving the 2009 truck that made first contact with the pedestrian in this sad. Accident . He was simply getting off work and headed home. He was heart broken. It will impact his life forever. Our county needs to add a street light and or a possible stop light. Yes the lighting is extremely poor… Matter in fact I took a chance
6 years ago when I ran out onto Mobil Hwy. To save a mans life. The road is terribly dark. And yes I am a tax paying resident of Escambia county. I do plan on making phone calls and calling our Mayor. We also have bus stops for public transportation across from each other in that very spot. Change needs to happen. I am also a victim of a hit and run accident as a child. Which required 7 weeks in the hospital. I want to say I give the drivers credit for stopping. The drivers spent 3 hours at the scene . As the deceased body lay on Mobil hwy. It was heart wrenching , My heart and prayers are with everyone involved. May our residents of Escambia County be heard. And make a change…
God Bless, we need a safer Mobil hwy.
Thank you and may my Prayers be heard.

Thom she wasn’t wearing dark clothing. She was crossing in a dark area of mobile hwy. The cars traveling in that area are driving between the speed limit and sixty mph. If the woman just waited till it was safer to cross or just walk a couple blocks away and used the crosswalk at Edison ave she would probably still be here today. God bless everyone including her in this accident. I was there.

Wow! One of my biggest nightmares is hitting someone while they are trying to cross the roadway at night. Like most other people, I do NOT want to hurt anyone, let alone, kill them. I have to wonder though, was this victim wearing dark clothes when (i re-checked-no gender of vic mentioned) he/she was hit? I ask this because this is what scares me more than anything else when I’m driving at night. C’mon people, stay out of the road at night if you are wearing dark clothes. of course I am only assuming the pedestrian was at fault (at least responsible) or else the drivers would have been charged with vehicular homicide (?)
