Century Man Arrested On Drug Charges, Probation Violation Warrant

The Escambia County Sheriff’s Office arrested a Century man Saturday night that had been on the run from law for last couple of months.

Javis Cane Grimes was booked into the Escambia County Jail about 9:15 p.m. Saturday on an outstanding violation of probation warrant, failure to appear and a bond revocation in an outstanding drug case, along with new charges of possession of methamphetamine and possession of drug paraphernalia.  Grimes is being held without bond.

The violation of probation warrant was from a 2010 case in which Grimes was convicted of possession of drug equipment and two counts of possession of a listed chemical after a Byrneville traffic stop.

During a search of Grimes’ pickup truck, Escambia County Sheriff’s Office deputies found pseudoephedrine pills, rubber tubing, starter fluid and other potential meth-making ingredients, according to a Sheriff’s Office arrest report. For the items, he completed an 18 months prison sentence in February 2012 and began 24 months on probation.

In November 2012, Grimes was arrested again after a traffic stop on Highway 168 near Wawbeek Road. In the vehicle, deputies reported finding methamphetamine, two syringes and multiple items used to manufacture methamphetamine inside the vehicle, according to an arrest report. He is awaiting trial for possession of methamphetamine and possession of drug paraphernalia. The arrest promoted a violation of probation warrant to be issued on November 8.

With the rap sheet he has they need to just send him on to jail. They keep letting him go and keep the ones that violated their probation. I’m sad his family has to go through this everytime he gets arrested.

I’m guessing u have never been hurt or had someone you love suffer from addiction. You do not just give up on them. U hurt for them. I can get so mad at him fir what has happened but in the same breath love him so much for who he is on the inside… drugs and this town are also part to blame here…

For all of you who think offenders are just threw down in a dark hole when they are sentenced, the Florida Department of Corrections offers many substance abuse and self betterment programs, such as:

    Pre-Treatment Motivation Program (Readiness)
    Residential Therapeutic Community (RTC)
    100-Hour Transition Program
    63-hour Wellness Education Course
    Active and Passive Sports
    Alcoholics Anonymous
    Anger Management
C.D.A.C. Case Management Program (Community Drug & Alcohol Coalition)
    Freshstart Smoking Cessation Program
    Impact of Crime on Victims
    Law Library Program
    Library Program
    Narcotics Anonymous
Operation Freshstart (Community Re-Entry Resource Center)
    Parenting Classes
    Personal Financial Management
    Sex Offender Groups

These are just some of the programs offered.

No, it’s not rehab, but a good 12-step program has helped many people. It’s definitely a start, but you can’t help someone who is not willing to help themselves.

So, maybe prison is where he will turn his life around…if he WANTS to…

  5. Just Praying on January 28th, 2013 8:22 pm

I think there are a lot of people in Javis’ life- good people- who are hurting right now because of what they are having to go through. I know that I will be praying for SOMETHING, ANYTHING, to help Javis realize what he is doing to himself and his family is killing them. But mostly, praying that his family can find peace through all of this. It has been a long hard road for them all and its not even close to ending now. You all will be in my prayers.

I agree with Shaun 100%… Javis is a great Guy… the way he loved me so unconditionally changed my life … it taught me what love really is and for that I will always be thankful … jail and prison aren’t the answer but I am he got picked up before he died!!! And F.G. u have a lot of blame here… I pray for u also!

Sorry everyone, prison is NOT the answer. JESUS is the only answer to addiction. An addiction to meth is like no other. I pray for this person who is a stranger to me. I pray that he will turn his troubles over to God and then follow his commands. Prison, rehad, and a loving family cannot change the affect that the devil has on someone.

Yeah, let’s just toss him in jail, forget about him and let the taxpayers pay the bill. That seems to be working quite well as it is.

I so agree with opinionated. Javis has to want to help himself. I do feel so sorry for his mom because I know she is such a good lady. Just by the Grace of God this could be my son. I pray Javis can and will get help. To his mom I am praying for you, because I know how you are hurting. God Bless all of you.

I know from the past that addiction is so hard to get past I almost went to prison myself from it, I had to find someone to help me well rephrase I met a woman who helped me I still have thoughts about gettin high, but I reach out and talk to someone I love jabo but the truth is you can’t get help until you want it. Katie I am sorry I know its tough to read and see your son do this to himself. I thank GOD everyday that I changed my ways…. F.G you should be ashamed..

  12. opinionated on January 28th, 2013 8:52 am

This man has been in trouble so many times I can’t keep up with them. He has a loving family, always has. His mom has picked him up, brushed him off and tried to get him to do what’s right. He didn’t want that. He chose to do drugs. He’s seen what happens to drug addicts but he still chose that route in life. No, prison doesn’t help a drug addict beat his/her addiction, but it does keep this particular druggie off the streets. If a druggie has no money they’ll steal to get it. Who gets hurt when he steals? Innocent people. Druggies don’t care about themselves, much less other people. Keep ‘em locked up away from innocent folks! The only thing that changes a drug addict is his/her will to change themselves! God Bless his family.

Prison may not help an addict, but it will sure as heck will make sure (while they are locked up) that they are not stealing from me, or driving while impaired and killing my family, or making more posion that will kill someone else. True it may not help him, but it sure as heck will help the community!

  14. CitizenX on January 28th, 2013 8:27 am

Sorry, kin folk, prison is the answer, the only answer for people like this. They never learn until they have to. It’s people like you that feel sorry for him that keep his habit going…

  15. kin folk on January 28th, 2013 8:02 am

obviously Mr. bout time doesn’t know anything at all because if you knew or know javis you would know he wouldn’t teach anyone anything that was his hustle and he didn’t want anyone cutting in on it but to view from the out side i so agree because he wasn’t out their trying to become a millionaire but supporting his own habit. But, this is a young man that messed up i believe we could all agree on that but if he gets put in prison his life will be gone jail is not the answer to a drug problem this bad he needs mandatory rehab but if you were to sit down and talk to this guy you would know it’s not or he is not just what you see on the news he has a heart too really nice guy i pray this is cleared up in the right way…

  16. view from the outside on January 28th, 2013 6:46 am

Prison does not help people suffering from addiction. I hope he gets the medical attention he needs.

  17. BOGIAN on January 28th, 2013 1:00 am

    Glad they caught him.

    Wish he would stop.

    Hope he figures it out.

    Hope his family stays strong.

    I’m pulling for you all.

He was my best friend I really thought he would change his ways after he went to prison. I once was bad on the stuff at and got in trouble in June 2011 and almost went to prison while he was in prison. I thought after he got out he would change his ways he has a loving family and I pray that he will learn but he will probably get 20+ yrs now. I wish him the best with his recovery I hope his Mrs. Katie can cope with this, I am glad I changed my ways through the Lord and the thought of prison. I hope the best for him. I love you bro, METH = DEATH
