Northview QB Club To Businesses: Show Your Support For The Chiefs

December 3, 2012

Northview’s Quarterback Club is leading the charge in asking all Escambia County businesses (both Florida and Alabama) to show their unwavering support for the Northview Chiefs as they prepare for their final showdown of the 2012 season against Trenton at the Citrus Bowl this Friday night.

“We are the only school in Escambia County, Florida, who is still in the playoffs right now,” QB Club President Toney Simpson said.  ”We need our county and our local communities to stand behind these kids.  I mean, really stand behind them.”

“This is what high school football is all about. This is what any athlete works his whole season for. This is it in a nutshell.”

Simpson adds that anyone, male or female, who is currently an athlete or has ever been an athlete knows what Friday night means to the Chiefs.

“This is not about if you are a Panther, a Royal, a Tiger or an Eagle.  This is about supporting a group of young men who have a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity; something that many athletes have only dreamed about.  This is about helping them get there and showing them that you’re behind them, win or lose. We are asking all businesses to put up on their billboards or marquees something showing encouragement for the Chiefs.  The boys will be leaving Wednesday or Thursday, so the businesses will need to do this quickly.  We want them to know we believe in them.  Our kids and families support Pensacola, Jay, Milton, Pace, Atmore, Brewton — all over. I think everyone around here supports each other. We would like to see this support from our communities right now.”

The Chiefs will travel to Orlando’s Citrus Bowl where they will play undefeated Trenton High at 7:07 EST Friday evening.  This is the first time in the history of Northview High School that the football team has made it through Round 3 and is on its way to Orlando.

“We just would like to see businesses and any community member who wants to to please encourage and recognize our young men with outdoor signs. This is big. We would do this for any school who has made it this far. This isn’t just about building up the Chiefs. This is about building up young men.  They just happen to be ours this time!”  Simpson said.

Resident Wakes Up And Finds Car In Spare Bedroom

December 2, 2012

An Escambia County resident found an unwanted guest in his spare bedroom when he woke up Sunday morning.

He thought he heard a sound about midnight  but did not notice anything unusual because curtains and blinds covered the inside of the window. But after daylight Sunday, the resident of Condor Drive in Gonzalez found that someone had wrecked a car through the window of his unoccupied spare bedroom.

The Florida Highway Patrol determined that the Dodge Avenger had rolled backwards from a nearby street and into the home. Troopers said another driver had hit the car, which was parked by the curb, causing it to roll downhill.

The FHP is continuing to investigate and look for the driver that hit the Dodge.  The Ensley Station of  Escambia County Fire Rescue also responded to the call.
