Charles Edward Reid

Charles Edward Reid, age 67, of Byrneville, passed away Wednesday, December 05, 2012, surrounded by his loved ones at Covenant Hospice, West Florida Hospital.

He was born on October 22, 1945, to Mary Estelle and Edgar Hugh Reid of Byrneville. He graduated from Century High School and the University of West Florida, entering the U.S. Army as 2nd Lieutenant and serving in Vietnam.

Charles was preceded in death by his mother, Mary Estelle Reid and father, Edgar Hugh Reid.

He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Christine Reid; son Jason Reid, Flomaton, AL and daughter, Amy Kornegay, Flomaton, AL; granddaughters, Zoe Nadler, Ally Nadler, Mia Kornegay and Jacob Reid; sisters, Ann Smith (Louis), Downsville, LA, Sue Kelly (Philip), Byrneville, FL and many nieces and nephews.

The family received friends Friday, December 7, 2012, from 6-8 pm at Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home in Atmore. Funeral Services were held on Saturday, December 8, 2012 at Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home in Atmore with Pastor Chris Hawkins officiating.

Burial was at Byrneville United Methodist Church. In lieu of flowers, the family requested donations be made to Byrneville United Methodist Church, 1351 Byrneville Road, Century FL, 32535.

Pallbearers were Robert Smith, Keith Holland, Gary Welch, Tommy Ward, Eddie Bondurant and Richard Collins.
The family would especially like to thank the Staff of West Florida Hospital Cardiac Care Unit and Covenant Hospice, West Florida Hospital. The love and warmth shown to Charles was inspiring. Thank you.

Petty-Eastside Funeral Home was in charge of all arrangements.
