Two Arrested On Drug Charges Following Bratt Traffic Stop

November 1, 2012

Two people were arrested on drug charges following a traffic stop east of Bratt.

Javis Cane Grimes, age 28 of Century, and Amanda Leeann Davis, age 33 of Jay, were both charged with possession of methamphetamine and possession of drug paraphernalia.  Davis was released on a $3,000 bond, while Grimes remained jailed early Thursday with bond set at $6,000.

Escambia County Sheriff’s deputies conducted a traffic stop on a 2001 Nissan Altima driven by Davis just before midnight Monday on Highway 168 near Wawbeek Road. The stop was initiated due to no tail lights on the vehicle.

Davis granted consent to search the vehicle, and deputies found methamphetamine, two syringes and multiple items used to manufacture methamphetamine inside the vehicle, according to an arrest report.

Grimes is currently on probation for an unrelated narcotics violation involving methamphetamine, according to court records.

They might have been good people, but they got caught with drugs and need to pay for the crime! If they are using or selling they a)need help or b) need jail time. It is time for everyone to remember that they are adults!

The town isn’t corrupt and he will have another chance as long as he lives.

    David for 490 chances

Javis is a great person. He is very loving, and made dumb mistakes by hanging around the wrong people, which I am sure are some of you alls kids. So don’t judge him when your friends, kids, and family are doing the same thing. If this town wasn’t so currupt then maybe he would of had a chance when he got out.

Anyone that really knows his mom knows that she did a wonderful job raising her kids and loves each of them. And people make stupid mistakes and they will pay for their mistakes we should be praying for both families instead of all the harsh comments.

I know that lady!!! Wow I would not have thought she would be in something like this.. Praying for both of their family’s.. As far as all this help people want for them, please these 2 people have to want to help themselves. For the families reading comment just stop reading them? Just a FYI if the family thinks the comments are bad wait until court day they will run their names in the ground… So let this build a tough skin for y’all…

Then perhaps drugs should be avoided.
I don’t even understand how good people keep doing drugs and other illegal things.
It looks like it would violate the concept of “good”.

    There’s always tomorrow.

David for good actions by good people
    and comfort to those hurt

wow … javis looks quite a lot different than I remember him looking when he was a freshman in high school … I guess meth will do that to you.

Why would anyone who knows they have drugs in their car allow a search? Just because they ask doesn’t mean you have to say yes.

And as for folks asking other people to refrain from saying this or that, please keep in mind that no one has been ugly or out of line from what I see here. They have pointed out that meth usage has numerous consequences and that these two people are accused of having this substance in their possession in the vehicle. A reasonable interpretation of this scenario is that they use these substances. In the future, please don’t confuse objectively factual statements with judgmental ones.

I’m sorry your brother is in trouble for this (again) and I hope that he is able to get his life in order this time.

My 2 cents along with everyone else,

I have asked for you all to show just a little of compassion for my mother and not post any judgmental comments. I pray that none of you have to go through what we have. I wouldn’t wish this on my worst enemy. If this were you child..would you want someone to make comments about yours? Think about it!

I just wish you wouldn’t judge. We don’t judge you!

Some situations really should be left alone, and some shouldn’t. I feel very sorry for this family, but not for Javis. Only after being put in the same situation would you know how you would react. I have been challenged with this before myself and it is a horrible feeling. There is many more people involved from his actions. He should be put in a place where he can receive help, and if that is prison then prison is where he should be. Atleast then his family will have a chance to talk to him once a week. HIs actions have caused hurt in so many ways, that people do not even realize. 1,2,3 strikes you are out.. right? So, as bad as the situation is remember that he isn’t new to this game and it is what he wanted! Pray for him, he needs it. .

Instead of judging let’s offer help instead. There are great treatment centers available like New Beginnings in Brewton. I would drive them there myself just to see them get restored

    Ms. Williams,

I see nothing below that questions the parenting skills of your mother. I am sure she is a lovely lady. Unfortunately, her son that has strayed from the path but it is not a reflection on her. That is a personal choice he made and will pay for and continue to pay for unless he makes better decisions. He is well past the age of parenting and there is little she can do to help him until he makes the decision to help himself and commit to a better life. According to the article, he is a repeat offender and needs to be off the streets. I am sorry that your family (particularly your mother), is going through the stress and heartache of what he will face. However, the best thing you can do for him now is make him personally responsible for his actions and hold him accountable.

By the way, the two of them do indeed look much older than their years. That is what meth does to a person. They are literally killing themselves.

Out of respect for my family (my mother in particular) please keep you comments to yourself. If you know anything about us then you would. I have read the comments and it hurts my heart so I can only imagine what my mom feels. She doesn’t need people to make her think she has failed as a parent when that is so far from the truth. My mother is the best, she always has our back and always believes In us. Javis is a good person without drugs and was doing really good. There was an accident that he was involved in that had nothing to do with drugs and if you knew us then you would know the struggle he faced. By reading these comments it reminds me of the bible stating don’t judge that was God’s job. Please don’t cast stone because one day it could be you and your family reading the article and comments about your child.

These are the faces of experience, because meth takes it toll….

Meth face makes them both look like their in their mid to late 40’s.

OH? I been hearing how great “Javis” was doing! I wonder what those friends are going to say now??? If this was my kid they would be running him in the ground. I am sorry for Javis’ mom that he has put her thru so much. She did raise him good, but when they get that age you can’t do anything but let them butt with their own heads, and hopefully Javis will see the light one of these days.

  20. Riversunshine on November 1st, 2012 9:44 am

They both look way older than their actual age.

  21. Just wondering....... on November 1st, 2012 6:39 am

If Grimes was on probation for a previous drug charge , isn’t that violation of probation? Apparently it didn’t help the first, second , or third time he was arrested for drugs……slowwwww learner!!! Send him on back, he likes it in prison!

  22. wow on November 1st, 2012 6:34 am

    Some people just never learn!!!
