Tate Beats Washington (With Football, Senior Night Photos)
November 3, 2012
The Tate Aggies went into Friday night’s Senior Night game with one thing on their minds — that so-far elusive first win of the 2012 season. And that’s just how the Aggies ended Senior Night, 35-20 over Washington.
Washington was on the board at 3-0 first with a field goal with 5:23 to go in the first quarter. The Aggies answered at 4:34 in the first with an eight-yard run from Lorenzo Long. After a good kick from Todd Ryals, the Aggies were up 7-3.
The Aggies would strike again in the first quarter, when Rashaun Johnson returned an interception 29 yards and Ryals put the pigskin through the uprights on the point after. Headed into the second, Tate was up 14-3.
In the second, Tate scored again, this time on a 25-yard pass from Devekyo Lewis to Bryan Davis, 21-3.
With 3:03 in the third, the Wildscats scored on a 26-yard pass. Tate’s Johnson returned the kickoff 88 yards for another Tate TD, and the Aggies were still on top 28-10. The Aggies, looking for that big first win of the season, scored again in the third on a 78-yard run from Long, 35-10.
Washington scored times three in the fourth quarter with a safety, a five-yard touchdown and a two-yard touchdown pass. But it wasn’t enough at Tate celebrated a 35-20 win.
With the win, the Aggies finished their 2012 season — the first under head coach Brad Naggatz — at 1-8. It was the first win for Tate since 2010 when the Aggies went 3-7.

Way to go tate. I played football and baseball all 4 years when i was at tate in 1973 to 1977 we were the badest around so bring the tate name back
congrats to the entire football alumni on the win friday night , a very needed win for all.i hope everyone sees that hard work pays off. to the football players i know how it feels to win and now you also do ,enjoy it and right now u need to start preparing yourself for the next season , work yourself to make yourself better.
Congratulations Tate football team and coaches!!! You have all worked hard and played a great game Friday night!!! Live right, stay focused on the positive comments, stay in the weight room, do not listen to negativity, and believe in yourself and your school!!! I am so proud of my husband Coach Meredith for giving of his time and talents to Tate’s football program for the past 9 years!!! My two sons have went through the football program and graduated from Tate; one to go on to play football at the college level and one to win the GOLD medal and the FL High School State Weight Lifting Championship!!! Hard work, being positive, and living right pays off!!! I am looking forward to a great year in 2013!!! Go Aggies!!!
to “the truth”……..i couldnt agree more, especially with last years and this years seniors…it can only take HEART and the love of the sport to hang in there when you lose week after week…last year it was sad to watch the team just dwindle down….hats off to them seniors for hanging in there…WHAT CHARACTER!!!!!!
Aside from the front office problems and coaching staff complaints. A big congrats needs to go out to the Seniors you stuck through til the end, week in and week out of losing and finally getting the W in their last game. Those kids showed a lot of heart sticking with it.
This community loves TATE and it has been apparent these last few years. Some one truly who cares about TATE, the kids, the community and all the programs at TATE needs to find thier way north. To lead you must first be led. Tate Baseball is on its way, for football, to hire within was simply a mistake. I agree with aumni, [please dont wait til April. This community needs to know and see that we are bringing it back to TATE now. I even watched one our our “leaders” last night get up and leave right as the last second ticked down. This individual did not go speak to the seniors. just left with no regard to them, thier time, thier effort. That was NOT CLASSY but we never had much more. Shame on you. This night in your words may not have been a “big deal” but it was to them
It was truly an amazing feeling last night in the stadium and a long time coming.
Carl Madson once told us that it not what you have but its the way you use it so true and Tate has what it takes to win they just haven’t been shown how to yet Congr on the win.
I am happy for all the seniors that went out a winner in 2012.. The excitement for those kids was on display for everyone to see. The buzz was felt throughout the entire stadium. The band played louder and more often, it was great hearing the fight song played over and over. All this with just one win in 24 games, imagine what would happen if you started winning every week or at least 50% of your games.
It’s time to make the change now. Don’t wait until April, do it now. Keep the boys in the weight room, get the leadership in place now and start walking the halls and knock on doors in the community to get the athlete’s to come play for this great school.
It’s been a long hard 7 years of poor leadership. Do it right, do it now!!!!!
Congratulations TATE FOOTBALL…….
Way to go. It always feels good to win one.
So happy for the boys and the win. Now it is time for a change. Lets bring Tate back to the power house they use to be. Lets bring some coaches in that can the the young men the fundamentals and how to win.
Good job Aggies! Look on the bright side, you have the same record as Auburn!
