Corrections Officer Hopeful Arrested For Murder

November 1, 2012

A man studying in Escambia County to become a corrections officer has been arrested for an Arizona murder that took place over five years ago.

The U.S. Marshals Florida Regional Fugitive Task Force arrested 32-year old Jack Bates Rider III of Milton as he left an academy class at the George Stone Technical Center on Longleaf Drive. Rider is the sole suspect in the premeditated murder of Krystal Wilson on July 19, 2007, in Yavapai County just outside Phoenix.

Rider had recently enrolled at George Stone to become a corrections officer, according to marshals.

“There was no way for the officials at George Stone to know he was a wanted man,” said Marshals Task Force spokesman Inspector Dominic Guadagnoli. “For case sensitive reasons Rider was not listed as a fugitive in NCIC (National Crime Information Center); so if the school checked it would not show him being a wanted man.”

Rider was arrested without incident and booked into the Escambia County Jail as a fugitive from justice to await extradition to Arizona.

He allegedly strangled the victim “either during or after the course of a personal relationship”, according to a statement from the U.S. Marshals.

Now that the trial is over and he has been convicted of murdering he’s very small woman and him being a very large man it just shows that even the Mika is my oldest person can have a Darkside. The recordings in the courtroom where he also talking about popping a crackhead in the head with his gun just shows what kind of beast this man is he’s is not a good person and will not be on the streets anytime soon there will be no chance for parole or probation he will have to serve his 18 years. With that being said he is now proven guilty without a shadow of a doubt so everybody that stuck up for him and told everybody else that it couldn’t be this man that murdered a 4 foot 10 100 pound woman. How do you like it now the truth has set him free rotten piece you son of a bitch. And everybody who thinks he still innocent talk to his wife she knows the truth

Krystal was a loving mother, sister, daughter and cousin. Her little girl reminds our family so much of her, and sadly she will never know what we mean by ” how much she reminds us of her”. At 5 years old she told me mommys in heaven with grandma. Justice will be served eventually.

He did not tell his family he had been called in several times for questioning…because that would be an outright LIE. You have him confused with someone else not being mentioned.

I hope he gets what he deserves. This is a long time coming for my sister. He took her away from her ONLY DAUGHTER at 3years old. I have known since she died he was a suspect. So finally justice is being served. Glad all the EVIDENCE Is there because he is going to have to pay for what he did. RIP Krystil.

Did he tell his family that he had been called into the detectives office several times for questioning of the Incident, and was still under suspicion…

  8. mrs. rider on November 27th, 2012 11:40 pm

He is innocent. The facts speak for themselves. Or actually, you haven’t been given any, so you wouldn’t know that. Law enforcement leaving out the truth of what happend 5 years ago and adding and TAKING AWAY major details. I wouldn’t be so quick to think some hero came forward…what would be in it for them 5 years later is the real question.why didn’t they come forward 5 years ago? Was someone else there? Why haven’t they been mentioned? Why would law enforcement leave that out? And if not, how in the hell else would they develop information 5 years later?..this man has no violent record, practically no record at at all aside a dui.never been in so much as a fight, he doesn’t even hold grudges against people. This man is a father, a husband, a friend to many.anyone who has EVER known him will tell you how honest, soft hearted, and incapable of harming another person, much less a woman….I mean, yes people do crazy things every day.. but this man… He’s as good as they come. I can’t believe the yavapai co.sherrifs office would go awaken this tragedy that took place based on..well based on what exactly? And put out news releases nationwide on something that is still ongoing?what they have told you and what they have not,That’s the question you should all be asking, not letting them spoon feed you whatever they want and believing it. Anyone involved should already know that the story they’re putting out is full of mistakes and things left out. No matter which side you fall on.So just because they put a face to this terrible hurt, you are going to take whatever they throw at you as fact? You took their word once already, now they change it and you’re so quick to take it again…what happens if they change it again? ! Guess I’m the only one who has lost my faith in the “protect and serve” job they tell you they do. To me it seems more like they ruin lives and don’t even watch where the pieces fall. Innocent until PROVEN guilty? Not hardly.

I agree David, but they could have had at least phoned and informed somebody to keep an eye on him.

    CONCERNING:
“I feel that the Marshalls Service should review this policy of allowing suspects to range at will, with no red flags.”

Put up red flags if you think they are warranted but as to not letting citizens travel without being charged, what would happen if someone decided they suspected you? You haven’t done anything wrong but they are just suspicious. You wouldn’t like it if they told you you couldn’t go where you wanted. It might even get you fired if you couldn’t travel as your job required. It would definitely be a loss of freedom without proof.

David for punishment only after conviction

I feel that the Marshalls Service should review this policy of allowing suspects to range at will, with no red flags. Suspects such as thist joker could have graduated from the Sheriff’s Department Academy and be on the streets with a cruiser and weapons. We would not know until?

Maybe he should have tried Code Enforcement first!

  14. 429SCJ on November 2nd, 2012 8:11 am

I read in another posting how a person was hauled to jail for three grams of pot, but yet they can let this joker roam at will for 5 years?

  17. NO Excuses on November 1st, 2012 3:36 pm

    @ Matthew:

No one is accusing him of anything, merely commenting upon the situation. We get ex-LEO’s in our prison all the time, so it’s not unusual to find some, even in school, who MAY have committed a crime. He will have to go through the legal process, then all will know.

Inmates with “insider knowledge” are watched closely.

  18. Matthew on November 1st, 2012 2:46 pm

He is my brother in law and I wish you guys would stop accusing him for something that y’all don’t know if true , he is a good guy and it will all be resolved he wouldn’t ever kill a person specially a woman I hope they get all the facts before they jump into conclusions…

    To:me
The term “Humdinger” was used by our sheriff to describe a local murder case that made the national news. It was quickly solved, but the phrase has become a catch word used by some to describe anything about law enforcement in the local area. It was not meant to offend you or Sheriff Morgan. My apoligies for any offense even if it was unintentional.

me on November 1st, 2012 11:48 am – “what is wrong with humdinger?
isn’t this America? If so, isn’t free speech one of the many reasons we are a great country? If use that word we may not get law enforcement news?
    that whole post is odd.”

    - Don’t worry…Calvin Cowpaddy was simply using satire and humor. You might recall our sheriff’s use of the word “humdinger” in the past. ;-)

Please, dear readers, do not use the term “humdinger” when referring to matters of law enforcement, it is a sensitive issue. We could be in danger of losing our northend law enforcement coverage.

  23. Irony on November 1st, 2012 8:26 am

So he was studying what its like to be a prison guard before he became a prisoner? Thats some great insider knowledge to have.

  24. 429SCJ on November 1st, 2012 6:30 am

Not listed as a fugitive in the NCIC, for case sensitive reasons.

To allow a murderer to roam for five years seems kinda different to me. I hope William that you are able to update us on those reasons, whatever they may be?

Such a shame……He would have been a good CO. would have taken control and lowered the prison population.
