Century Resident César González Becomes U.S. Citizen
November 15, 2012
Century resident César González is one of America’s newest citizens. He was one of 83 people to take the citizenship oath recently at the federal courthouse in Pensacola.
César is a native of Colombia, South America, and has been in the United States for nine years. He and his wife, Century Town Clerk Leslie Gonzalez, moved to Century in 2010.
His path to citizenship took seven years. César was already a permanent resident, so the only tangible benefit he received with his citizenship was the right to vote.

Thanks Tammi Jean, I read the article regarding Miz Gonzalez, a short time after reading this post on her husband and realized that she is a Century native.
Long life, Happiness and Prosperity to the Gonzalez Family.

Congratulations Mr. Cesar I am proud to have you as a fellow citizen. You are a very good man and a role model for others.
Congratulations César! We are so privileged to call you our friend and brother in Christ! We love you!!!
@ 429SCJ: To satisfy you curiosity, César moved to Century with his wife, Leslie Howington Gonzalez. She was born and raised here and Century and is the Town Clerk. They moved here from south Florida to be with family. Century has gained a fantastic citizen!
Congrats for taking this step, César!
This is the way it is supposed to be done. You have my respect for doing it the proper way and welcome to the USA. Well done
such a great story!!… heartfelt congratulations going his way …(i probably would have cried tears of joy had been there) i am sooo proud of his accomplishment!
Congratulations and welcome to America Mr. Gonzalez.. I believe that you will do well and be a credit to this great nation..
I agree with Safebear and wish to congratulate Mr Gonzalez on becomming a US citizen and think it is great.
My only curiosity is how in the world did he pick Century off the map? I believe though that he will prove a productive asset to the town.
Holder and Coach –
Why did this have to become so political? Congratulations Mr. Cesar!
Cesar, it was a privilege & an honor to be there as you took your oath to be an American citizen! I am so proud for you to accomplish such a time consuming, difficult accomplishment! I appreciate all that you have done for the community and your loyalty to our country!! Though the ceremony was very long, it was well worth seeing and something all Americans should see at least once in their life time! Again, Congratulations!!!!
Dear Cesar Gonzalez,
Don’t you watch TV or read the newspaper..You could have stayed in the United States, voted, received unemployment benefits, food stamps and ALL the goodies that you are entitled to…WITHOUT becoming a US Citizen and going through all that hassle of studying and waiting and memorizing…
On a serious note…Congratulations on becoming a US Citizen the right way. Earning it and following the law…
Hope Barry Obama reads this post!!!! (and all his socialist/liberal buds)
Have a wonderful day! ;D
Now this is how it should be legal. Congratulations on your U.S. citizenship. Send this to President Obama and the others in Washington who want to bypass all those who are gaining citizenship the way Mr. Gonzalez did. We have naturalization laws on the books, but President Obama used executive privilege to bypass the Law of the Land, Congress, and the majority of the citizens of this country.
Immigrants are welcome, but it should be done the same way Mr. Gonzalez gained his citizenship.
Congrats Mr. Cesar you so greatly desrve it.
Congratulations, Cesar. WE are so happy for you!
Congrats! Legal immigration is awesome
Congratulations!!!!!!
I had the pleasure of meeting this gentleman not too long ago. I am happy to hear about this. Congratulations César
