Pen Air Credit Union In Century Robbed (With Photo Gallery)

November 27, 2012

A man claiming to have a gun robbed the Pen Air Federal Credit Union in Century Tuesday afternoon.

The robbery was reported about 1:00 p.m. at the credit union on North Century Boulevard. The man walked into Pen Air and said he had a gun, demanding all of the money, according to Sgt. Mike Ward, spokesman for the Escambia County Sheriff’s Office.

The man fled on foot with an undisclosed amount of money. He was described as a thin white male with a gray hoodie and sunglasses.

There were no injuries.

The Escambia County Sheriff’s Office quickly surrounded the bank with multiple units as they searched for the suspect.  K-9 teams were seen searching around the bank, including an area behind the U.S. Post Office next door.

There have been no arrests reported. Further details have not been released by the Escambia County Sheriff’s Office.

You know it is sad when century has a simple arrest there will be photos and the cause of the arrest, but we have a bank robber with no face for the public to view.I think that is sad,who knows he may be a crackhead. That undisclosed amount of money he took want last long, and that means he thinks he got away with the robbery with no photos being shown to the public. He may strike again, who knows he may start robbing other locations.I think the public deserves the right to see the videos from the surveilance cameras.

where are the photos of the robber, were the cameras working?I think the community should have the right to see them. For all we know we might be sitting right beside him having breskfast or having dinner in a local resturant.

    To Just Me:

I do believe that robbing a bank is a federal offence and you will get more than a slap on the wrist. Add on that he claimed to have a gun and no doubt it is even more time in jail. Another one we have to feed for the next 30 years. Just hope they catch him soon and we can all feel a little safer. Extremely happy that no one was hurt.

It is very disquieting for people to make comments like “this always happens this time of year”. A Robbery is a Robbery no matter when it happens, and for someone to claim to have a hand gun most certainly is not to be taken lightly.
I have family that made a career out of business management and I’ve spent many restless nights wandering about there safety in the convenience stores, retail stores, bank and now finance company that they worked in.
It doesnt matter if the thief gets away with a million dollars or just a few dollars, the danger to the employees is always there. For someone to walk in and rob a business they are already desperate, and a person that thinks they have nothing to lose will do anything.
Thank God there were no injuries. o money is worth a human life

    >>>Where’s the video pictures? Why hasn’t the public seen any?

Because they have not been released by the Sheriff’s Office yet.

I have just been informed that this “usually always happens around this time” of year…so no reason for anyone to be worried… It’s just the kids acting up again …”bummer”… that is crazy how nonchalant everyone appears to be… it really seems like Century has went to crap! …

If there were more SERIOUS punishments for these criminals, crime would drop. What is so wrong with “The punishment fitting the crime”? I’m sick of having to worry about what hoodlum is just around the corner and the whinners of the world getting their way. I use that bank often, and those workers are so kind. I hope they will all be alright and somehow find a way to not live in fear.
