North Escambia Man Sentenced To Prison For Fathering 13-Year Old’s Child

A North Escambia man will spend the next 10 and a half years in prison for fathering a child with a 13-year old girl.
Michael Lee King, 26, was found guilty Tuesday of sexual battery and child abuse. He was sentenced as a sex offender to 130.5 months is state prison, with credit for 104 days served while awaiting trial, on the sexual battery charge. Judge Jan Shackelford also sentenced him to 60 months in prison to run concurrently for child abuse.
According to an arrest report, King first had non-consensual sex in 2010 with the girl when she was 12 years old. Their sexual encounters continued for over a year, she told investigators, until King was arrested on unrelated charges in August.
At age 13, the girl became pregnant, giving birth at age 14, according to the Escambia County Sheriff’s Office.
The Sheriff’s Office obtained a voluntary DNA sample from the 14-year old girl and baby, and obtained a search warrant for a DNA sample from King. According to a Florida Department of Law Enforcement lab report, there was a 99.99 percent probability that King was the father of the child.
King did not provide deputies with a statement prior to his arrest, according to a Sheriff’s Office report.
At the time of his arrest, King listed his address as a trailer park on Barth Road in Molino. He previously resided on Highway 164 in McDavid, according to jail records. The abuse incidents occurred in McDavid, according to the arrest report.

the reason why the child was placed in a foster home is becasue both of her parents which is my aunt and uncle were in jail for serious crimes, and havent had custiody of them since they were born
Great!! He got 10years, hopefull that he does at least 5years. Hope when he gets out no parents will allow their kids around him.

Is this really all he got? I just read on here that a man got 12 years for trying to run over a deputy,but a he only gets 10 years for fathering a baby with a baby? Our system is messed up!!!!!!
I agree with joani. So sad to take a child away from the mother and place them in a home where they are miss treated.

Given the statement that anyone might abuse children, the parents have the moral obligation to look after the safety of their children, not just say, “Oh, he’s with …..”
Did they do it on purpose? Probably not.
Should parents be watchful? YES.
Should we just say, “Oh, well those things happen, nobody could have imagined it?” No, we’re already imagining it.
Take precautions. Be especially suspicious of anyone who wants to be alone with children. They have no good reason to do so. Even if they give you a reason, it is not a good reason.

The state worker that placed this child and was responsible for the follow-up needs to be jailed.

thank god some one finally done something, the now 15 year old girl is my little sister and no one should be put through that and have to relive it. but we love her and her beautiful daughter to death, im glad mike finally got what he deserved,

I would love to see some punishment for the victims parents. They are gulity of not providing a safe enviorment for this child.

It should have been more, glad he got what he got though. People on here wanted to talk about what a nice dad this low life was. Well now he can be a nice dad in jail while being someone’s wife.
