A Little Extra: Absentee Ballot Return Postage is 65¢

October 15, 2012

Absentee ballots have been mailed to more than 30,000 Escambia County voters, and officials are cautioning that return postage is more than just a regular first class stamp.

The postage required to return the ballot is 65 cents because the ballot is two sheets rather than one. Absentee ballots must be received by the Escambia County Supervisor of Elections office no later than 7 p.m. on November 6.

I checked the status of our mail in ballots and they made it to their destination.

David Stafford should be on the hook for any postage shortage, How could such a critical detail such as this be left out of the instructions?

I mailed mine with just one “forever” stamp and it made it okay. Anyone who has already mailed the ballot can check its status at:

It’s a little late for officials to come out with this information now. We have already mailed ours in (with return address included) and they have not come back to us. I hope our votes, especially for president, were not wasted.
