Deadly Weapon: Cantonment Woman Beats Boyfriend With His Own Leg

September 11, 2012

A Cantonment woman has been charged with pulling of her boyfriend’s prosthetic leg and beating him with it in Baker.

Jadian Faye-Marie Hatfield, 23, is charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon without intent to kill, domestic violence battery, interfering with the custody of a minor, and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

The victim, 25-year old Brandon Fleming, told deputies that Hatfield, the mother of his two-year old son, agreed to share custody and exchange the child every two weeks. He said Hatfield told him via text messages she was tired of him and would put him six feet under, according to the Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office.

Fleming told deputies that around 11 p.m., Hatfield arrived to pickup the child and an altercation followed.

During that physical altercation, Fleming said Hatfield came up behind him, pulled off his prosthetic leg and began striking him with it. He says Hatfield then reached into the front of the car, pulled out a 12-gauge shotgun and pointed it at him, saying she would kill him if he didn’t let her leave with the child. Hatfield and the child then drove away.

The Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office said Fleming has injuries consistent with his statement.

This entire story…even the part about the leg seems really “fake” to me!! Or how about this one…you give a woman a “foot” and she will beat the living daylights out of you!!

I just can’t leave this one alone, My Mother has a prosthetic leg. I am hear to tell you. You do’nt just walk up behind someone and pull their leg, well not off anyway. You have to release a catch on the inside of the leg, people don’t wear peg legs anymore and what evidence do they say they have, toe prints or heal prints on the victim. I don’t think this can stand up on it’s on before a Judge.

I hope she thought it was worth it. I hope the county doesn’t let her off. And angermangement isn,t going to cut it.

the father qualifies as a “disabled” adult, by SSI definition…therefore, it would seem that the mother should have ALSO been charged with battery (with injury) on a disabled adult, which is a crime in florida.

…i wonder if the judge will not allow her to own a artificial leg any more?

    @ seriously-

“He still has a leg to stand on.”

That’s a good one- way to find the humorous aspect of the sitch.

it looks like he will now get full custody of the child. He still has a leg to stand on.

    REGARDING:
“The charge of “possession of a firearm by a convicted felon” says that she has been in serious trouble before.”

Pointing a 12 gauge and threatening to kill sounds like serious trouble even if she didn’t have an old felony conviction hanging on her. Her only local record was a NOLLE PROSEQUI for BATTERY-TOUCH OR STRIKE some five years ago. Looks like they tried a diversionary process back then so she wouldn’t have a record as a criminal.

Note: suggest avoid violent people, don’t produce children by them if possible.

    David for selective mating

@Walnut Hill Roy: You know everything is public record in Florida? There is no reason to wonder about these things. You can look them up!

She may not be smiling for long!Feel so sorry for the child. He is the one to really suffer.GOD bless him.People should grow up themselves before trying to raise a child. So sad makes me cry knowing what some children may endure everyday.

  15. deBugger on September 11th, 2012 7:27 am

Well, now she can forget about getting sole custody of the boy.

  16. Walnut Hill Roy on September 11th, 2012 7:07 am

Methinks that the story might become clearer if we knew what felony she had previously been convicted of. The charge of “possession of a firearm by a convicted felon” says that she has been in serious trouble before.

Geez! I’m wondering why she was picking up a two year old at 11pm…..

Guess he never watched the History Channel… Should have know about the Hatfields before getting involved with one, maybe there is a McCoy in his family tree.

  19. Janet on September 11th, 2012 6:29 am

This shouldn’t be funny but you wonder if there is some McCoy lurking in the storyline. Good Grief! When did women become so aggressive and violent!

  20. dad on September 11th, 2012 5:50 am

She looks awful proud of herself.

  21. KJ on September 11th, 2012 5:49 am

I guess the child witnessed all this…..what a shame.
Instead of the Hatfields and McCoys it’s Hatfield and Fleming…..

Wow, you mean she actually got arrested. In my previous marriage of 11 years I called ECSD 3 separate times because my now ex was a violent mental case, only to be told each time that it was my word against hers and the Judge wouldn’t do anything. Therefore I was discouraged from seeking charges by the responding Deputies. Then she would call me on my cell and mock me because the Deputies didn’t take her in. Sad but true. Thank God that not all women are like this.

    You can’t make this up!
Had always heard about ripping your arm off and beating you with it, but……
