Theft Suspect Talking, Praying Her Way Into Homes Of The Elderly
August 3, 2012
Molino and Cantonment are on alert after reports of someone talking their way, even praying their way, into the homes of elderly residents.
A resident of Ridgecrest Lane told the Escambia County Sheriff’s Office that she invited a lady into her home to pray with her because she was under the impression that the stranger was from a local church. The Sheriff’s Office said the woman’s purse was stolen, and her Navy Federal card used to make purchases at two Cantonment businesses. Few other details have been officially released as the Sheriff’s Office continues their investigation.
But family members tell NorthEscambia.com that the 92-year old woman was approached at her home by a woman that said she was from the Beulah Baptist Church and would like to go inside her home to pray with her.
The suspect stayed and prayed with the woman for about 15 minutes. As the suspect started to leave the home, she told the elderly victim that she had left her cell phone behind on the sofa. After going back to get her phone, the female suspect left.
The victim later discovered that her purse was missing — including her keys with a Navy Federal financial card attached.
Family said the victim’s card was then used for $10 at Gee Willie’s convenience store on Highway 29 in Cantonment, and then to make two separate purchases totaling over $300 at the nearby Cantonment Dollar General store.
The suspect was described as a skinny white female, about 5-foot , 4-inches tall, in her mid 20’s to early 30’s. According to the Sheriff’s Office, she may have been driving a silver Dodge pickup truck. Investigators are working with the stores involved to obtain surveillance video of the suspect.
NorthEscambia.com was alerted to another incident involving someone making their way into the home of an elderly resident. A police report was not filed in the second incident.
And an elderly resident on Bet Raines Road said a woman came to her backdoor and started a conversation. The elderly woman was led to believe that the female was from a local church and invited her inside for a cold drink. The female then asked to use the restroom. And some point, the resident became uncomfortable with the situation and tried to call relatives. The suspicious woman then left.
Nothing was reported missing in the Bet Raines Road incident.
Anyone with information about the incidents is asked to call the Escambia County Sheriff’s Office at (850) 436-9620 or Crime Stoppers at (850) 433-STOP.

Thanks William for letting us know these things. I haven’t heard anything about this on WEAR (surprise, surprise, they are pretty much useless to our area) and this information is most important.
Now my mother is informed and alerted. She is a very good shot (you should see her target shooting) and not afraid of her weapon.
People like this will get scared when they get pinned down one day, then one thing leads to another and the next thing you know she’s really hurt someone.
I really hope this woman gets caught before she gets buck shot in her butt.
Pray??? Pray you don’t get shot!
Never open your door anyone with any sence understands why you wouldnt open it if they dont leave and you feel strange about it call for help.
The reason you know more things that happen in Molino is because of NorthEscambia. Thank you William.
This way we will know to be on the lookout for this lady, otherwise we may have had a lot more seniors that were approached or stolen from.
Anyone that takes advantage of seniors or children should bepunished to the full extent of the law not just a slap on the wrist..
Thanks again William!
Vengence is my saith God…and He will repay for what she is doing…God will not be mocked…
Gosh I wish this forum had a like button! Jennie I like the comment about an old school “prayer meeting”!
We’ll all be called to a reckoning one day – I would NOT want to be her when my time came!
How Low! This lady will meet her maker eventually.
amazing what people try in molino! i understand crime happens elsewhere, just seems like molino has issues……w criminals!!!!
for a safe home
His name is Jesus not Big Guy Upstairs.
Wow, it is amazing how low folks get and instead of letting Jesus help them with their problem, they use Jesus’ name to be the problem.
This kind of stuff makes it hard for other sincere brother and sisters to go door knocking.
Praying !!!
This is so low, I can’t believe someone would do this……oh, wait yes I can, the way people are acting these days. If this woman tries this again she may not be so lucky. She may end up in a home with a senior citizen with a gun, that isn’t afraid to pull the trigger!
The lord has a special place for folks like that and it aint good
One wonders what sort of notes the Big Guy upstairs might be taking regarding this mystery woman and her despicable behavior. . . I imagine that HE knows who she is.
Once again…DO NOT LET ANY STRANGERS IN YOUR HOUSE UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES! If you did not request someone to come to your home for some reason and you don’t know the person, call law enforcement. The best thing is to simply not open your door if you don’t know the person. There are some bad people out there and not opening your door could save your life.
Gees! Just when you think people can’t stoop any lower! Cantonment’s not that big baby, and you’re bound to knock on the wrong door. When you do, I hope they take you out back, and entertain you with an old school “prayer meeting”!
