Shots Fired At Pickup; No Injuries Reported

August 18, 2012

There were no injuries when someone opened fire on a pickup truck Friday night on County Road 97 near Cantonment.

The victim told deputies that someone “came after him” on Jacks Branch Road, according to Melissa Rawson, spokeswoman for the Escambia County Sheriff’s Office. The victim continued south until someone fired a gun and shot out his tire on County Road 97 about 8:50 p.m.

The suspect was described as a black male, driving what was believed to be green over metallic-colored extended cab pickup, possible a Ford Ranger.

Rawson said it was not immediately known if the shooting was a road rage incident or if the suspect knew the victim.

Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call the Sheriff’s Office at (850) 436-9620 or Crime Stoppers at (850) 433-STOP.

Were the brick throwing incidents also on 97? Does the suspect vehicle match that suspect’s vehicle at all? I can’t remember …
We came home this way right after this happened and saw all the deputies with search lights looking into the sides of the road. Glad no one was hurt.

The law say’s all can own a gun. We live in an area that has snakes and other bad critters, people should be able to own a gun if they are carefull. Remember”guns don’t kill People kill people.” Road rage is no excuse for pulling a gun. Don,t shift the blame to the people from cantonment they didn,t make that person pull a gun. Blame the bozo that pulled the gun. Just because Cantonment isn,t pretty but the world isn,t a pretty place either. It is always achoice to be dumb and pull a gun,or walk or drive away.

I have remembered so long what a quiet peaceful place cantonment has always been, except the stinky ole mill, but that is acceptable. What is not acceptable is the fact that each day there comes a report of crime and violence from this sleepy little country town. Folks you had better get a hold on things or you will be like most surrounding towns and that is to move away and let the low lifes have it.

Awesome, So instead of solving the root of the crime problem just push it into Alabama. Lack of knowledge breeds lack of understanding.

Okay people…Cantonment is my happy home, so pretty please take your violence and guns somewhere else, maybe across the state line and let the rest of us live with the illusion of peace. Thank you, I just know all you rowdy types are headed North as I speak. No, I don’t believe it, but a girl can dream, can’t she.

Have a calm, enjoyable weekend everyone :)
