Wreck Near Atmore Claims Life
At Flomaton man was killed in a wreck north of Atmore Friday night.
The near head-on collision happened about 10:30 p.m. on Highway 21 near Fountain Prison. According to the Alabama State Troopers, 46-year old Eddie Wayne Gregson was killed when his 1991 Chevrolet van collided with a 2002 Ford driven by Bonita Montalvo of Atmore.
Gregson was pronounced deceased at the scene. Montalvo was transported to Baptist Hospital in Pensacola by LifeFlight in critical condition.
The accident remains under investigation by Alabama State Troopers.
Man Dies In Jay Road Crash
A single vehicle accident near the Alabama/Florida line claimed the life of a Brewton man Friday afternoon.
The accident happened just after 3 p.m. on Jay Road in Escambia County, Ala.
Authorities said 61-year old Kenneth Ray Thomas of Brewton was pronounced deceased at the scene of the crash, just a short distance from his home. He lost control of his Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck, ran off the roadway and struck a tree.
The accident remains under investigation by Alabama State Troopers.

My heart goes out to the entire Gregson family. Eddie was always a great person. He made me laugh and always kept a cool head when we were dealing with anything. He was a very loving man who was so proud of his sons. Corey, I am so sorry you are faced with this. Please remember how much your dad loved you. I never saw such pride in a man as when he watched you play ball. Steven and Claire, I know he loved you both and Ella was nothing but a joy to him. I wish there was something I could say to ease your pain.

Mrs. Thomas, I just got word tonight about Mr. Roy. Words cannot explain how sorry I am for your loss. He was a wonderful man. I enjoyed the days he came to eat lunch with us at Boggs and Boulders. Such sad news this morning hearing my cousin Eddie Wayne has passed away. He was such a wonderful man who always made me laugh. I will truly miss him and so will our family (our tribe) , he loved his heritage and so proud to be a member of the Poarch Creek Indians. Eddie we love you and will forever cherish the memories. Eddie Wayne Gregson was a proud Poarch Creek Indian and the biggest Roll Tide Fan…He was also a proud grandgather,father,and brother. He loved his family and friends. But most of all he loved to coach the Poarch children in baseball and for them to be proud that they are a Poarch Creek Indian. Eddiewayne you will be forever loved and truly missed…. RTR!!!

Thank you to all the first responders. Roy had many friends and many of them were there at the scene. There is no way to explain how I feel but I thank you very much. Joe McCurdy (our very close friend and neighbor) Mike Lambert (our very good friend and one that we called “our Son”) helped me more today than they will ever know. Just seeing John Cardwell, who calls me Aunt Chuck, helped me so much. My cousin Dwynette Thomas was right by my side for hours. Thank you all so very much.
