Health And Hope Clinics Provide $1.7 Million In Free Medical Care

August 19, 2012

The Health and Hope Clinics in Pensacola and Century have provided well over a million and half dollars worth of free medical care to local residents during the past year.

During the last year, the two clinics had 2,000 patient visits and provided $1 million in free medications. The grand total of all services provided to economically disadvantaged and uninsured residents was $1.7 million.

The Health and Hope Clinic quietly opened in October in the old Escambia County Health Department building at 501 Church Street in Century. It is the second location for the clinic, which was first established in Pensacola back in 2003 by the Pensacola Bay Baptist Association to meet the needs of uninsured and medically underserved in Escambia County. The clinic is entirely volunteer and donor supported.

To become a patient of Health and Hope Clinic, you must:

  • be completely uninsured
  • be ineligible for Medicare, Medicaid, or VA medical benefits
  • meet financial eligibility requirements as determined annually by the State of Florida

To schedule a new patient screening appointment, call (850) 479-4456.  Only a limited number of new patients are accepted each month. To volunteer, call (850) 256-6200 or (850) 479-4456. For more information on the Health and Hope Clinic and services, visit www.healthandhopeclinic.org.

I am a volunteer at The Health and Hope Clinic in Century. It has been such a blessing for so many people. And the best blessing I get from it is the people that come in to be screen or to see the Doctor and they are just so thankful for the help they get from the clinic. And when I see them come back for a appointment, it is awesome how they can just make your day with a smile and then they will ask you, how are you doing?
Love working with a great bunch of people to. Thank you Bonnie C. and Bob C
for training us at the North End Clinic, you are the best.

What a blessing this has been for so many folks that doesn’t have insurance. These folks are so appreciated by this community.
To Jb yes, as a veteran we are blessed with good insurance, and until we began needing it didn’t realize what a blessing it was.
I would like to say thank you for everyone that has volunteered their time to this program.

I have been there since day one, We will be celebrating 1 Year Sept. 6th, It does not seem that long, but as clinic coordinator my day is pretty busy, we have some GREAT volunteers and a GREAT Doctor in Dr. Jessica Ham.
There are people in this area that need medical help and we do our best to help. If we could get more volunteers we could open on another day, our opening is limited by the volunteers and Doctors we have, If you would like to work with some great people and do Gods Work by helping the needy Come by on Thursday and fill out an application. Are if you would like to donate any office supplies it would be great, what we do is on donations, we do not charge for anything we do.
We do it for the Glory of God

Volunteers are needed so that the Clinic can expand the hours they are open in Century. Can you give four hours a month of your time to serve your neighbors?
You do not have to have a medical background to volunteer. There are many tasks that have to be accomplished to keep the Clinic open. Office work, cleaning, landscaping, assisting patients filling out applications to receive free medications from pharmaceutical companies, building maintenance, computer repair, helping in the Clinic pharmacy, community relations, etc. They will find a place for you to serve.

Area Physicians and Nurses, active and retired, can you give back to your community? The Florida Volunteer Healthcare Provider Program covers you under Sovereign Immunity. The State of Florida defends all litigation.

The Clinic serves all of the north end of the County and also the folks living in Jay, Flomaton, Atmore, Brewton, and surrounding areas. Please consider volunteering and tell your friends, neighbors, Church.
Civic organizations. The Clinic is making a positive impact in the North End and is worthy of your sponsorship.

The Clinic is operated by all volunteers and relies on donations to keep the doors open. If you cannot personally serve this worthy cause perhaps you can send them a financial donation.

A heartfelt thanks to all the doctors and medical staff that donate their time to such a worthy endeavor as well as the donors that support these facilities. If it weren’t for the VA care I receive after serving 9 years in the Army I would be in the same boat as these patients and I am truly greatful someone in our community is looking out for those less fortunate. Thank you.
