Former Corrections Officer Arrested For Bath Salts At Jail

August 7, 2012

A former corrections officer has been arrested for having bath salts inside the Escambia County Jail.

Koley David Bazzelle, age 27 of Cantonment, was arrested Sunday on an outstanding warrant for violating a domestic violence injunction by allegedly contacting his ex-girlfriend by phone.

Once at the Escambia County Jail, deputies reported finding a small baggie inside Bazelle’s wallet. Bazelle told deputies that the powder was bath salts. He was arrested for possession of a hallucinogen and introduction of contraband into a detention facility.

Bazelle, according to an arrest report, was formerly employed as a corrections office at the Century Correctional Institution.

The people that work at Century Correctional Institution are hard working people. Just because he is a EX-Correctional officer the people that work at Century CI should not be put in the class as him. He was let go because of the things he did.

Yes they are suppose to check but some are not by the book,as for him being charged throw the book because he knew he wasnt suppose to have it, my brother got a drug in a cop car & as he was going in jail im told he tossed it in garbage can but he was wrong lucky for him I guess the cop wasnt paying attention which is also very dangerous should have checked him if they did they might actually help people

ok i am all for him going to jail for vop and having the bath salt but to charge him with introduction of contraband into a detention facility. is not right…why did the deputy not shake him down before going into the jail and when you are arrested isnt the cop supposed to search you and check for stuff like that?
