Bratt Renter Charged With Grand Theft For Moving Out With Appliances

A North Escambia man is charged with a felony for allegedly moving out of a rental property in Bratt with the owner’s appliances.

The owner of the property in the 5300 block of North Highway 99 told the Escambia County Sheriff’s Office that Israel Dewayne Wiggins, 36, moved out after about a year and took a stove, refrigerator and a freezer. He then allegedly sold the appliances, valued at $1,870, to another man for $60.

Wiggins was charged with felony grand theft and released from the Escambia County Jail on a $2,500 bond. The appliances were recovered and returned to the property owner.

    This is horrible. This is a prime example of what the world is coming to. No one wants to work for what they have. These people think the world owes them something. Get a life and a JOB and purchase your own appliances.

    Things like this is one reason rent is so high now. This man should be ashamed of himself.You dont take from others. Its just wrong.

    1. For taking the appliances in the first place

    2. Only getting $60.00 for a stove, refrigerator and a freezer?

    I’ve had that same problem…all your cold food defrosts and goes bad when you move. What better way to get it to its destination?

    And, he was thoughtful enough to bring along a stove so that he could cook anything that happened to thaw out.
